Too awesome for words, congratulations. Stick with it, even if it means vaping your face off. And even those few cigarettes is FAR better than your former habit. My thought is that if you even stuck with that, you are going to feel so much better in short time.

My stepdad is a train guy. He and my mom are also avid smokers, and now in their 60's, totally paying for a lifetime of smoking. I want to get them into vaping, even to just cut back, but they have so far been too obstinate to even try. I may just have to buy them some gear and juice and keep my fingers crossed.

Good luck Trainguy, you're already doing a great job.

LOL! Vaping my face of is exactly what I've been doing. I've tried everything in the book to kick the nasties with zero success. This time, I've got the mindset. This AM, I was at Wallyworld and some poor old sole was dragging an O2 tank behind him as he shopped. I immediately thought "Wow, there I go in about 5 years if don't do something NOW".

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I can see success on the horizon.

Yeah, I really don't want to be like a bunch of people I know with the oxygen tank. It is vaping for me.

I think cutting down by half is great and now you can drop it down more when you are ready. I like that you can go at your own pace for quitting. I managed to cut down by half immediately and felt better right away.

Congrats! You are approaching this very much like I did. When I received my starter kit, I had 4 unopened packs of cigs and one pack opened with a few left. I had the cigs and thought, just in case, but tried to go mostly for my volts. I finished those few cigs, opened one more pack that took me 5 days to finish. (I was at least a 1.5 PAD smoker) At that point I decided I would not be smoking the other 3 packs and put them away in a cupboard.

I still have those 'anxiety' moments, but I tell myself, "It's all good, I have my nicotine fix, it will pass, vape vape vape." These moments pass quickly. Keeping busy helps too. This forum was/is a GODSEND! Just knowing that everyone here had experienced the same things and made it through, a real confidence booster. And, you are so right, mindset is important. When you are ready, you are just ready!

Yep, I was a 3 PAD guy...42 years of smoking...the Volt ended all of it in 3 days (unbelievable). Now 3 weeks with no cigs...and it's a great feeling. Remember, everyone is different. Ms. G took about a week of a few a day to stop...I think it heps that we're vaping as a team (but she is much more stylish with diamond endcaps and vibrant colored batteries). Keep it up...you're doing great.

Awesome job keep it up! I've only smoked half as long as you, but I had already started feeling it's toll on my health! Long winded after climbing stairs, that good ole hour or so when you first wake up in the morning where you have to clear your chest and throat, etc. Besides the incredible and immediate benefits upon your health when you stop smoking, smoking in general is getting harder and more expensive to do every day all over the world. Just this year alone in my home state of Indiana a law was passed that bans smoking EVERYWHERE in public places, and if you are caught throwing a .... out of the window of your vehicle it's an automatic $1000 fine. When I first started smoking in the late 80's analogs were $1.14/pack, now they are over $5/pack. They might not have made smoking illegal (yet, that's the next step), but they might as well.

Vaping is the future, and the future is now. Consider yourself a pioneer that will help to pave a healthier highway for future generations! :toast:

Well, Labor Day has now come and gone and I’m happy to report it was analog free for me. Not one, zero, zip, nada; nothing but my Volts. However, I’m struggling with one psychological aspect of the analogs.

With the stinkies, there is a logical progression of things. Fumble for the lighter; light up and take that first deep drag (along with (un)healthy dose of Zippo lighter fluid vapor); smoldering stench for a few minutes; take the final drag to burn any remnants of tobacco out of the filter; smash it in the ashtray.

With my PV, starting is simple enough. Pick it up and vape. The logical conclusion is what I’m struggling with. When to put it “out”?

What kind of mind games do you guys play to trick yourselves into thinking it’s time to “put out” your PV?

Thanks to all at ECF for the support and encouragement to finally kick the analogs. Were it not for you guys and SI, I’m sure I would not have been successful!

Ah. There can be some rituals with vaping too. Refilling cartos with juice. Or get some CE3s and by the time you've finished putting juice in a cap, drawing it into a syringe, filling a CE3, then trying it out, the ritual aspect is fulfilled. Fill a clearo and let it wick. Pull the filler out of a carto and use it as an atty for drip vaping. All these things become part of the experience.

As for putting it out - that used to throw me a bit at the start too. But now - I think great, I don't have to put it out. I just keep vaping until I feel like putting it down.
