I have a squid rda, which really only allows 4-5 drops. I take off the drip tip, drip into the opening onto the wick, replace the drip tip and vape.

Drip tip off, enough drops into the chamber that the well allows, keeping coil clear of juice (other than that in the wick). I take the cap off only to replace a wick and/or coil and to check juice level if I can't remember the state I left in after last vaping on it.
I used to drip right through the drip tip. Now I don't have to drip anymore which is wonderful. I use a mechanical Reo grand. The maker rob also makes vv(variable voltage) grands. Really an awesome mod. I just squeeze the on board bottle and any excess juice flows right back in the bottle

Yeah, I hate the aesthetics of the reo unfortunately. And that's a huge part of vaping for me. I truly wish I liked it, but it looks terrible IMO.
At the OP, I drip though the DT 99% of the time.
Have a few DT's that are horrible for this, and well they pretty much sit in the box b/c of it...mostly cheap ones have this issue.

Have a look at the AUrora. Its an atty that you squonk. Todd did a review of it
Looks like it adds a whole tank section under the actual atty, is that accurate?

Another bottom feeder here (VMOD and REO) but when I am using my RDAs I tend to drip down the drip tip. I have got to know when I need to re-drip by inhaling a lot of burnt cotton in the past. Not recommended.
As for alternatives, I remember when the AMP tank was a thing. Basically a 510 atty submerged into a tank - kind of like a carto-tank principle. I also seem to remember that a lot of people had massive leaking issues and got rather upset with their $120 tanks and sold them on the classifieds.

The Amp Tank taught us that you can achieve similar results with a standard 510 atomizer and a 510 extension. Often with less leaking.
I remove the tip to drip. Though I rarely have in the past month. I enjoy my 705 clone at home and my eRoll everywhere else.

I have been rotating 3 Igo-w's and I always take the drip tip off and then add between 3-10 drops depending on what juice it is and amount I intend to vape. Like posted above I sometimes forget how much juice might be in one so then I remove the cap and check the level, and while the cap is off I inspect the coil and cotton to see how its aging.
