Drip Tips??? Someone mention drip tips??

Oh, I have to run away from this thread. I LOVE drip tips! I have a mania for them. And have tried them all...

I will think about my faves, but they are numerous. From cheap, to cutsie, to the outrageous artisan designer ones... oh how I love Drip Tips!

OK, I want the one in the last photo. Where did that come from?

That would make my PV 8.5 inches long. By the way, the Totally Wicked grape is a concord grape in case anyone was wondering.

Hey CJ, I use these from TW. Cheap, and I love the look. Tight? yes they are.

    3 x TW Color Mouthpiece/Drip Tips

BTW - Newminster No. 23 from Good Life Vapor.

I'm going to be honest here.... But I really don't understand the drip tip fixation. Of all the things to spend money on... I'd rather just buy a new bottle of juice, or a new tank, or more wick/wire! I can understand wanting a longer one so you don't get spit on with your high power RBA or something, but...????

    Think PEZ.

And I'll be honest right back, Zippoz. I have no CLUE! I don't understand it myself. I suppose to me it's like a hat. Just the perfect hat to top off a wonderful (usually zany in my case) outfit. Maybe it's more like hair... the crowning glory. Do you have hair?

Perhaps we could pop psychologize it as the most intimate part of the vape... I don't know.

I have no need of another bottle of vliquid... nor do I need another tank (oh dear, that's another fascination for another thread) and wick/wire? Ummm.... Booooooring (to me).

That CJ, is a tip made from pine cones... :D (Molehill Mountain)

But then I wouldn't be able to eat deep dish pizza while vaping and wouldn't be able to look at the tallest building in America out my window while doing so (and no, "spires" or "antennas" don't count, New York).

As Jon Stewart recently said: "Deep dish pizza isn't pizza. It's casserole"

I think there are a couple of reasons. One is the practical (long/short, metal/acrylic, etc.) as you pointed out. There's also the practical aspect of using the drip tip to show what juice is in a tank or clearo (especially useful if you're like me and keep multiple juices going at the same time). There's also the artistic - it's an easy way to personalize a setup, make it more 'yours'. (And it has the added benefit of being easily changed when you want a different look.)

    Think PEZ.

Well, I guess I'm lost then. I remember having a few as a kid, but they were stocking stuffers. I always just ate the candy out of the pack haha. Then again, I think they were a little before my time...

I actually wasn't directing that toward you, but I'm gonna reply anyway. I can tell we are very different people already haha. Yes, I have hair. A little too much right now actually. It's starting to get in the way and take too much effort. My girlfriend is always jealous of how easy it is to take care of when it gets long. Her jealousy is lost on me. If it takes more effort than drying when I get out of the shower, it's too much. I don't really like hats much, and only wear them in the snow. Most of my clothes are dark colors. I like to keep it subtle. Function over form, generally, for me.

I love getting new tanks, because it is a new experience, and something new to tinker with. That is also why I like getting more wicks and wire, because it can change the vaping experience, and I find tinkering fun. Juice, I always want to try new juice. FLAVORS! If I had the same problem as the OP, I might consider a new tip at that point too, but if it doesn't change the vape, ehh.

EDIT: Btw, thank you OP for bringing up this interesting fact, and sorry for the hijacking.

    Everyone is different.

But a good feeling drip tip can make all the difference between an enjoyable vaping experience and a not so enjoyable experience.

I recently bought one that just felt....wrong...in my mouth. It looked nice over the internet, but once I put it in my mouth, it was too big and uncomfortable. I used it for all of 5 minutes, and chucked it into my vaping draw where it will probably sit until the end of time.

Different materials and lengths can also change the flavor subtlety, by cooling off or keeping the vape warmer.

So function does follow form in drip tips.

But last, for many people, they want their mod(including the drip tip) to look good. If I am at home, I really dont care how it looks, but if I am out at a bar, I dont want my system to look like crud, and a drip tip is part of that.

So there are many reasons to get...just the right drip tip. And as the OP found out, sometimes what maybe the right drip tip in summer, isnt exactly the same in winter.

Right now I wouldn't be able to afford a really fancy drip tip, but I could see myself getting a few in the future. The reason is that vaping is much classier than smoking cigarettes. Unless you're a pipe smoker, investing in fancy pipes, or a cigar smoker, investing in humidors, tobacco smoking is just a throwaway habit. You get your lousy pack of smokes, toss the butts after you smoke them (hopefully not on the ground) and when you finish the pack, you crumble it and toss that as well. Having something really nice, something that you really get pleasure out of by just looking at it, something uniquely you, to put to your lips, is a reminder that you are no longer part of the stink club and that you've moved on to something way more classy. You're no longer sucking off a two cent bit of cellulose. You're vaping off a $65 handmade gold plated piece of art or whatever it is. That's the way I see it, anyway.

And don't ever worry about "hijacking" my thread. I love good conversation.

By the way (off topic, I apologize), but I want to try out my Totally Wicked raspberry menthol but the only tank I have empty is an evod. Does anyone know if that flavor might be a tank cracker? (Anyway, I didn't see it on the list so I'm going to give it a try.)

I never smoked habitually, so that part is a little different for me. I smoked to enjoy it, and usually bought american spirits because I liked the flavor best and didn't care that they cost a little more. I was into cigars for a while, but I never bought a fancy humidor. I just used a nice tupperware (tupperador) container and a $15 hygrometer. I think the last time I smoked out of the stash was last summer. It just so happens that I enjoy vaping more, and I like that it is healthier.

That said, I don't want an ugly piece of equipment, and will buy the one I think looks better provided that those good looks don't outweigh what I could be getting from something that could perform better. It's just that... when some of these tips cost $20, I go, "ouch, why not just get another protank," (or whatever you like.)

As far as mouth feel goes, unless I feel like I'm cramming a highlighter into my mouth, I really could care less. Cold metal? No problem. Plastic? No big deal. I wonder if this has something to do with how people feel about the texture of their foods. I've never really been bothered by any texture. The flavor is what really matters to me, while a good texture is simply a bonus. For instance, I never understood why people like croissants. My ex would go crazy ranting about how she loved the flaky texture, but I simply find them bland. A good one I can admire, but that is the same with a lot of foods. Perhaps this is a similar concept?

Also, glad to know you don't feel that I have hijacked the thread. Some people (and some forums) get really testy about this.

For me, I'm mostly a function over form person. I like appearances to suit my taste, but my taste is pretty broad, and that's very much secondary.

The point for me with a drip-tip is it's 'tuning' the experience. Once you've got your mod and your delivery device set up how you like them, you can accentuate the vape in different ways for little cost and with little complexity by adding a different drip tip. Long ones, cold ones, insulated ones, airy ones, whatever.

I wouldn't spend £20 on one unless I was *damn* sure I liked it, and intended to keep it for a long time. But having a selection that cost £2 - £5 makes sense to me. When I've already bought hundreds of pounds worth of other parts, and spent many hours learning to set them up, it makes sense to take that low-cost, low-hassle final step.
