Drip Tips: Metal or Plastic?

My tastebuds must still be broken from 30+ years of smoking prior to my vaping experience, I don't taste the metal.

I'm running SS, acrylic, aluminium, chrome plated and there's even some rubber ones that came with some DCT's I ordered. The rubber ones I don't use and most of the metal ones I have are too restricted so I tend to use the acrylic ones at the moment. My Kumiho BCC's have SS tips as part of the build, I do like those too.

I can't say that the cold is an issue on metal tips where I am either. It's either wet or it's dry but always hot...lol

Re: HzG8rGrl's collection

What a great collection you have! Where have you got all these?
I envy you...

I have vaped a little over year now, but I have ordered only couple
of extra drip tips. I have used only those that comes with the certain
carto, clearo etc. I don't like the metal flavour. I guess I'm quite sensitive about
that. What do you recommend for me? Any suggestions?

Re: HzG8rGrl's collection

That's awesome! I am probably your exact opposite: though I've vaped for a few years, I only own tip I've purchased & I bet many people would hate it. It's stainless steel, super minimal & when it arrived I thought I hated it. But I bought it for the hands-free set-up I have with a 650 mAh eGo-sized auto battery (Smokeless Image X2, c. 2010-1). The tip is heavy, and between the weight and the design of the groove, it balances the vape out pretty well.

Otherwise, I usually use Kanger tanks and I'm satisfied with the plastic of the eVod or the chromed brass of the ProTanks. I guess I've become more of a minimalist than I thought. Between vinyl, books and art materials, I have enough stuff to manage as it is! :)

But I greatly admire your collection. Passion is a wonderful thing.

I think I still have 5 vinyls, one of which is The Carpenters. Most of my books are cookbooks! I have a few things hanging on the wall I like to call art and some vases that are nice.

A good bit of those were orders from Health Cabin and were .50 to 1.79 each. The glass ones were a bit more pricey. I actually see the handblown glass ones as small pieces of artwork that I get to use every day!
Some are from Drip tip Designz, Trippy Tips, Madvapes, Cherryvape, Hoosierecig, nimbus9vape and many more places over 4+years.

You can stick with the acrylics, but be wary of using acidic and cinnamon flavors for prolonged periods of time. According to vapers who use those flavors, they damage the tips over time.

I prefer the glass tips as the flavors do not react with the glass, as per my experience. If a juice flavor does linger on a glass tip, it's in the o-rings and a quick change takes care of the problem. Size and shape are also important. The shorter the tip is, the warmer the vapor. With a longer drip tip the vapor tends to cool down a bit.

Somewhere out there
I prefer the stainless steel ones, plastic ones are ok and I have had some aluminum ones that I liked. I dont like the chromeplated ones tho.

My favorites are aluminum. Stainless is OK. But metal gets awfully cold in winter so I use acrylic sometimes.

The chrome-plated ones give me a metallic taste.

I haven't tried the Ti tips-the aluminum tips give off the same metal taste for me. I think I just have a sensitive taste to metal-I have gotten used to it though, due to the fact that all rebuildable atomizers are made of metal and I can taste it-no exceptional juice tastes for me-LOL.
I do love mah tips!

In my quest to find that perfect vape I've been experimenting with a lot of different things. Power settings, juice mixtures, ohm ratings in coils. One thing I had decided early on, was that I didn't like metal drip tips. So, I went to plastic.

Recently however, after getting responses to a couple of my threads, I came across one comment that talked about the proper cleaning of your gear. One of the things that had never occurred to me, was to wash out the tip!

Umm... Duh?

So, I washed out my metal tip that came with my Pro-Tank II. While there is still a slight aftertaste of metal, it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as bad. And one thing I find with plastic tips (as with plastic tanks), is that the flavors came become absorbed by the plastic, which of course, leads to weird vapes.

Anyway, what's your preference? Metal or plastic? For that matter, have you stumbled across a tip that's made from a different material? I would be interested to hear your opinions on this!

I've seen glass tips online, but not sure what they work on.

So those would fit on CE4 types and since its you, cartos, right?

Technically, they should fit on the CE4 clearos that accept other tips, but your MMV. You are correct, I put the above on my cartotanks. The pyrex tips from Hot Vapes do not use o-rings, so they are press fit. They don't fit as snug as other pyrex tips I have that have o-rings, so the tips from Hot Vapes are only used at home so they don't get lost by accident. Size-wise, they are huge.

I've been getting into the ritual of soaking my stuff in boiling water with a light mixture of cleaning vinegar. Take the tank apart, tip, throw it all in and let it high boil for about 15~30 minutes. After a couple of times of doing this, I haven't experienced metal aftertaste on my PT2's stock metal drip tip since. Have been thinking of trying the acrylics, and one guy earlier even mentioned a carbon fiber tip. One thing I find about metal is that it doesn't transfer previous flavors so bad from previous juices if I do skip the wash and boil. Those plastic tips seem to be worse for this. It's kind of like storing spaghetti in a plastic Hefty container in the fridge for a day or two . You never get the sauce out of there. The smell always lingers, as does some of the color. So, plastic is out for me at this point, but would like something other than metal, just for kicks.

I like chrome or SS and I like plastic or ceramic, also. It depends on how it feels to my lips. My gripe with the original Protank is that it is integral with the top of the tank and can't be replaced. Mine is showing the copper substrate in the top 1/4" so I need to replace it. I have the Protank II also, but have stuck with the original PT too long and worn out the tip!

Totally forgot about the ceramics-They are like the glass tips. No holding onto the flavors, minus the o-rings.

Yeah... my world of thought has greatly expanded since I got this thread started. Didn't even know anything else was out there, beyond plastic and metal. Would like to try some of those.
