drip tips.... Question?

A drip tip is just a piece of material (metal plastic etc etc) with a funnel type hole (wide at top, narrow at bottom) drilled in it. Its very simplistic.

The reason I say that first is because someone is going to come on here and say so and so is better because they made it and it will last longer, blah blah blah... I fail to see where one metal will outlast another metal.

That being said, I use the drip tips from goodprofits.com. They have metal ones and plastic delrin ones, each for $3.49 (you just missed the $1.99 4th of july sale)

My behavior (which follows my bank account) agrees with mutt ... and I do think highly of those very inexpensive drip tips from GP (only Heaven Gifts in China has a better price). Of the two types, I happen to prefer delrin over metal, because I don't like the feel of the metal ones between my lips.

The only reason that I also have ordered from elsewhere is because Rob at Good Prophets doesn't carry tips for the 801 (my primary vape). In the process, I found that the anodized metal tips don't discolor like GP's metal ones do. And a supplier like NHaler offers many more color options. [Aesthetics are almost as important to me as cost.]

well I'm one of the opinions that mutt is talking about so I'll humor him...lol...

I'm totally against the cheap nickel plated copper metal ones....just something about using a metal tip that is comprised of the same quality of metal that you get from cheap jewelry or gumball machine quality rings that turn your finger green...or that the nickel plating tarnishes quickly and starts to flake off....and exposes copper that when exposed to oxygen will turn green itself...

That being said I won't extol one vendor over another...just saying that that is my main concern over quality..other than that you've got drip tips that come in plastic, delrin, aluminum, and stainless.....and then ther's that nickel plated copper...and those are the only ones I'm concerned with as far as inferior build quality...

any of the other 4 materials I'm cool with...and each has it pro's and cons... the plastics and delrin ones are better if you're using them with cartos because of conductivity issues (there is a chance of contacting the wire in the carto and the tip (if metal) shorting the carto out)... the delrin is a harder plastic and less porous so easier to clean and a bit more microbe inhibiting ..but only comes in black (or white but I don't know anyone carrying white ones)... the plastic ones are available ina 306 atty style as well and their semi transperency is cool...
the aluminum ones come in several colors but the anodization can scratch..but seems smoother (so the juice clings to it less) and the anodization helps seal it...
the stainless...well it's stainless...it's heavier which can feel off balance on some PVs..but very sturdy, very smooth, easy to clean, very little maintenance...

as for home made ones...I've been playing around a bit with making a mold of a few of the ones I have and casting a few out of a harder food grade silicone...but I havent been really 100% happy with the first couple and it's not a real super pressing project for me....

I stopped dripping a long time ago, because it was a hassle for me. But Drew (Nhaler) sent me a sample one and I have to say I wished I had one when I was dripping! (I popped it on yesterday when I lost my cart in the car.)

This one is translucent plastic and neon pink. At first I was perplexed by the color choice, but as the light began to dim in my car, I saw it reflected the light and made it easier to see it, lol!

I can't see using a metal one - my attys tend to get very hot and and could see that transferring to a metal drip tip and my lips. One thing I like about using the drip tip over a traditional empty cart is that the vapor is actually warm when you inhale it!
