Hey all,

Ok so I made my first attempt at dripping using Joye 510 SR attys and my Buzz Pro. I blew out the primer and vaped a juice I didnt really care for (no inhale) to make sure it was clean and primer free.

I would drip 3 drops of juice in and get 2 maybe 3 good "toots" and they start tasting metal. Figured that meant a dry atty... So I added 3 more drops... again 2 or 3 toots and metal. Add 3 more drops and noticed I had a puddle of juice running out my atty.

So... how does this all work. You drip 3 drops and what...vape until you start to taste metal (yuck)? Is there a special atty just for dripping? How do you get the residual juice out of the atty? Rinse it under hot water?
:toast:
Thanks...and sorry so many Q's....

I start by pouring alcohol in my atty, blow that out, then give a few minutes to dry. I use LR Joye atty's from COV, they seem to be the best. Then I drip 3 drops, hit the button and listen to make sure it's working, then drop 3 more. Sometimes that metal taste hangs around for a few puffs, but it goes away pretty quick. After they are "conditioned" you shouldn't taste that anymore. Some atty's I bought, though, never did taste better. I just kept trying different brands until I found one that works.

Ok..good advice all. But I think I should clarify... My main question is it seemed my atty was dry (after taking three hits, then tasting a dry hit)..but after dripping MORE juice in a bunch leaked out. So what may have appeared to be a dry atty actually wasnt.

So maybe Keysbum hit the nail on the head? I had juice on the side of the atty mabe and it slowly dribbled down?

I guess I will keep practicing...with plenty of papertowels to wipe up the mess :)

If you have your cone on it will catch most of the drips.

I don't think the buzz pro has a cone.

What it does have is a juice well. If you are over dripping, a few sharp draws should suck the juice back up in to the atty. That's what juice wells are for, I think.

That's really odd. You did everything correctly but, then it started leaking. Which obviously means that you had enough juice in there. The only thing I could think of would be that the wick has been burnt and now, everything that you put it there would taste like crap after a few hits.

Try de-wicking your atomizer and see if it works better afterwords. Just blow out your atomizer, de-wick it, then re-prime the atomizer before you use it again. Then you'll know for sure if this worked for you or not:

EDIT: It could be a gunked up coil too but, I don't know how long you used the atomizer before you noticed that metallic flavor your talking about. If it was within the first few hours or half the day then it's definitely the wick.

The 306 drip tip is my choice for dripping. The drip tip slides over and seals the atty barrel. You can drip through the tip and the bridge is robust enough to absorb the juice. In the picture below, you can see the bridge sticking up out of the barrel and the hole in the drip tip is large enough to drip into without getting juice all over the tip.

This picture is from the Madvapes site.

i only use the dripping method . once i get going i drip 3 drips and get 6 draws from it. i find it best to stick to 6 draws . i know you can go over that but if you wait until you get a burnt taste the atomizers will not last long. as for juice i use flavourless with a few menthol crystals dissolved in the juice. mine sometimes leaks too . i think it's down to the individual atomizers ,some do and some don't .

Well shoot... I tried the video method for removing the wick and it seems my Joye 510 attys have that wick material glued to the underside of the bridge. left a few fillaments .... but it seems it works better than with the wick in.

Now my second mistake...I was dripping Ms T's juice and boy does that gum up your atty... now everything tastes like snickerstrawchocolate :)

Yeah, once it's been used for a little bit. The wick becomes a little difficult to remove compared to when it's new. Personally made it a practice to do that before I even prime it.

Anyways, it's good that it's working better for you know. Some juices do tend to gunk the coil up faster then others. Such as juices that are; high VG, dark, and has sugar in it. One of the ways of rectifying the problem now is to clean it. I usually soak mine in isopropyl alcohol (91% or higher)for a few hours. Then rinse it out with water and blow out the access water. Finally I let it dry for a day or two.

I would suggest dry burning but, you can risk popping the coil if your not careful. But, if you want instructions on how to do that then please ask. I think it's best to try out what I described first. If it's not that dirty then it should be fine but, if the coils are really gunked up then it needs to go through another good cleaning and dry burning. In order for it to work like "new".

One of those atttys that the fiber is stuck to the bridge was brand new and never used.

I will try the soaking in Isopropyl, rinse and blow... I was ticked as I went to our ONLY local Vape store and they actually let you sample the juices if you have your own atty. Didnt bring mine because they were gummed up.... damn.

Oh and I think the reason I only get 3 or 4 puffs off a 3 drip is I am runing my SR atty at 4.3v ... so that burns the juice quicker.

Well the Buzz is an easy PV to do this trick with because of the raised connection. (also why their drip well is only a catch basen)

Just slide an o-ring down below the connection. The leaking juice will collect on top of the o-ring. You will then draw the juice back into the atty with the next puff.
The o-ring off an old drip tip works well.

Of course you could just get a drip shield.
