For sure a great way to start. My first rba was a kayfun. Good difficulty level for me to start at. And I used it on a vamo v5. Then I got a quasar and used it on there in the 1.5-2.0 ohm range. It works decent. If you have a regulated mod that can push past 15 Watts its wonderful. I was left wanting more since I could only go to 15. Then I got a mech and love it. I'm currently saving for either a DNA or ipv2. But then again I may just get a chip and try my hand :).

I personally drip on my TOBH clone at 1.5 Ohms on my Provari, works pretty good gets me Nicotine buzzed at my regular nic level so I have to drop my nic level. It does take a second or so for the coils to heat up but it's still good. Although I just pulled the trigger on a SX350 chip and all the other bits and pieces to make a wood mod with 50 watts.

I just don't want to go with a mech for safety reasons.

All depends on what you're looking for. I'm running .8 dual coil on a dna30 around 23 watts and the flavor is amazing. The atty is a critical part of the equation :) my first Rda was a magma infinite clone and it's as good vape quality as the authentic at 4x the price.

I personally don't drip on a regulated mod since my regulated device has been on life support for awhile and I doubt mine would have enough power anyway. But, there are newer devices that are out and are coming out, designed so people can use lower builds and drip, like the DNA 20/30 and the GI and GI2 regulated box mod that can go up to 100+ watts and there's also a Sigeli device that's supposed to be soon to be released that does 100 watts and claims to fire as low as 0.1 ohms with dual 18650s. I'm not sure how safe that is with a regulated device but it's coming out if it's not already.

My favorite dripper setup is the Tugboat on my Cana dna 30. Working on getting a Hexohm, and maybe one of the sigelei 100w if the reviews turn out good. It's the regulated voltage from beginning to end that makes them a winner in my book. At that point i won't see much use for mechs other than aesthetics.

With high output APVs, I agree, mechs are really just aesthetically nice but also cheap. I enjoy regulated mods for the battery monitoring. I honestly don't notices the voltage drop off until about 3.5v on my mech, but consistent vape is another perk with regulated mods. Those hexohm boxes seem nice, if nothing else for the extended battery life!
