I do. Even vaping a 1.2-1.8 (or higher if the device can handle it) coil at 10-12 watts (although I like 15 now) was far and away better than vaping at 8w on last year's clearos TO ME. Clearos have gotten a lot better recently, but they still aren't going to touch an RDA (or RTA for that matter) even if it is with 1+ ohm coils at moderate wattage.
I started rebuilding and dripping on a regulated, it was great to just focus on making a good looking coil and don't worry about the resistance (I aimed at 1.6 and up) it is great and easy to improve your building skills as you get almost the same vape quality if you make a 1.6 or a 2.2 on a VW
Cool… good to know because I'm onto the sigelei 30w and was gonna pull the trigger on a plume veil clone to see what they hype was about and wasn't sure if I'd be able to really put it to the test on a 30 watt regulated mod.
I run the Plume Veil on my Cloupor and it's amazing. With a single coil I can get huge clouds and amazing flavor. I had to learn how to make a higher resistance coil for it though because being used to building sub ohm with a mech it was different trying to get a higher resistance out of a single coil after doing dual coils for so long.
I drip on a regulated device (Quasar on Hana V3), though my builds are a pretty conservative at 1.0 - 1.3 ohms on a single coil. Mainly, I just do this for flavor sipping and sampling as most of my juice is 12mg or 18mg - too much dripping makes me lightheaded at those nicotine levels. Like anything else in vaping, you can make it work for you given enough time an patience - nothing magical about mechs or VVs.
I use a Sigelei 20w at home for dripping most of the time, works fine. The thing is so big it rarely leaves the house, so I use it with everything. I keep waiting for it to die, but it just keeps on working.
I didn't read the whole thread but coil resistance is the issue for me, on mechs I need to use 1 - 1.5 ohms coils. Sometimes I over wrap a coil and end up with around 2 ohm so I adjust using the Sigelei 20w and the vape is good.
Got an ipv2 50watt coming for my veritas so i'm hoping it'll work good. currently has a .51ohm "sleeper" coil on a s/s nemesis clone and it hits lihe a truck!
With the regulated devices coming out now, like these 100 watt devices, they can match all but the most extreme mech builds. I for one would never run that extreme of a build, as I like my face, and want it to remain where it is . I've been itching for a better variable watt device. My current one tops out at 11 watts, which was fine when I used stock heads in my kanger tanks, but now that I rebuild them, it's just not enough anymore.
I had a cheapish nemmy clone that shorted inside somewhere, the battery got real hot. If I hadn't been holding it and immediately took it apart something very ugly would have happened.
So I bought a segelei 30W and a couple Seven 30's. They are great, low battery and they tell you. A coil rubbing the terminal and it tells you, just much safer in general. That said they are expensive so I may give the nemmy another try. I just hat to unscrew/rescrew the safety what a Pita. With the regulated mods its just press the button and go.
Hadn't heard anything about the ehpro clone. I already pulled the trigger on the acerig. I haven't heard much negative about it. I may still give the ehpro a shot when I see it
i use my TOBH and Patriot on my evic supreme more then the nemesis, oddly i prefer to use my Kanger Aerotanks on the Nemesis lol. BUT since i got my first KFL+ that has become king on all my mods, to and include my ego's and twists.
My ProVari Minis were great. However, since receiving my VS rDNA, vaping with 1.5 ohm/1x coils has been excellent and much safer than my using my sub ohm/2x coils on my mechs.
