I just got a 510 regular atomizer and two drip tips to try "dripping" I put the atomizer on to my 510T battery (after wiping and blowing out the factory juice it came with)I then put 3 drops of e-juice in and put the driptip on.

I smoke for a bit (about 5 puffs) and it was OK (except I didn't like the flavor I picked ... cheese cake is so gross as a smoke flavor) but then I tasted a slight shift to "burnt" - I took off the tip and added two drops: still burnt, I added one more drop: burnt...How do I get rid of this metallic taste?

I didn't want to flood it so I took it off blew it out (it had e-juice in it) and tried again. This time 4 drops. It still tastes bad, the smoke production is fine, it's working, but the taste is just *metal* ugh.

What can I do?

Have I destroyed this atomizer. I read that they can end up with a permanent burnt taste if they are burned without enough e-liquid. But, I only took 5 puff at the start, and I was *watching* for that.

Help?

I'm not sure if the one u have can be fixed. Just try dripping on it and vaping a few cycles to see if it goes away. For future attys. U should drop like 6 drops on it the first time. To prime it and get it ready. Some places say more. After thati usually do 3 or for drops at fist hint that flavor is gone. Hope this helps!

I doubt that you've ruined the atty. I'd suggest cleaning it with hot water or 90 percent alcohol or h2o2. Some juices gunk the coil pretty easy and I suspect that's what happened. Try long slow pulls and release the button before you finish your draw and see if that helps any.

Blow it out. Put a few more drops in. Blow that out into a tissue also and start over. Listen to the sound your atty makes when you get that perfect hit. It's a nice sizzle without a gurggle with substance to it rather than a dry hiss. Dripping can be the most flavorful, clean, pure and wonderful vape going but it takes some patience to get it right. If you're not getting proper vapor or taste, take it off, blow it out real good and start over. Noobs tend to overfill and underfill. Depending on the size of your drops and the length of your draw you should get 4-7 nice hits between topping off. I'm a dripper and love it but the beginning sure was frustrating. Cartomizers leave me feeling like I have wick fibers in my mouth and lungs. Cartos are much easier. The filler fiber may mute the flavor a bit but it's worth it for most vapers for the convenience factor. Holler if you need help. You can do it :)

Thank you so much. All Of you, I can see there is a learning curve with this that I had not anticipated. I have yet to get more vapor from dripping than I do with my tank cartridges, but I can tell the flavor is less compromised.

I also didn't realize it'd be messy, at least while I'm learning. I need a little soapy cloth to keep my fingers from getting sticky with all of the blowing and futzing about.

I'll give it that old college try again and read read these good tips first.

(I have already cleaned the atty... when you say alcohol you mean something like everclear yes? not rubbing alcohol?)

I happen to have 3 bottles of everclear under my desk! (Don't ask)

Honestly, I hate atomizers for the exception of one...the dual coil atomizers from cloudsofvapor.com. Like yourself, I can always taste the "metal" in them but not with the dual coil atomizers (not cartomizers). They are a little pricier than the others but last a good long time with a crisp clean flavor...vapor production is outstanding. Use at any voltage but they really shine at 6V and 3.7V.

Here is something you can try to remove some of the burnt taste. It's a PITA but has worked for me so far. Soak atty in white vinegar for half an hour. Remove and rinse in hot water. Add a few drops of lemon juice to the atty and let it sit for another half hour. Rinse in hot water and blow out. Now add a few drops of plain VG and vape it off without inhaling. Add your juice and vape. It will remove some of the "off" tastes that your getting.

........ when you say alcohol you mean something like everclear yes? not rubbing alcohol?

Everclear is perfect! I've used 91 percent alcohol in the past, but lots of folks say don't even use it and certainly not 67 percent (or whatever it is).

I seldom clean, but when I do, I usually use h2o2. I take a carto condom and slide it up part way on the threaded end, leaving a little below the threads. Then I drip in three or four drops of hydrogen proxide, then squeeze the bottom of the condom a little to swosh it in the atty. (careful at first or you'll squirt it out). Repeat 2 or 3 times, blow it out good, and screw on battery. Vape it off a little with no inhaling, load my juice and vape. (h2o2 converts to water under heat)

Sounds like you burnt your wick..9 out of ten vapers will tell you to throw it away..But if ou drip there is one simple solution to this problem...Mod it out... Read the first post of the link I'm about to put down and it shows you how...I have done this many times and it's rather common but it works great, and it not only fixes your problem but it makes the vape better than new, you'll get more out of it in terms of flavor, vapor, th, and longetivity...Ignore the "dead" thing there talking about

And I find Rubbing alcohol followed by a boil works the best for cleaning...If your this fresh into it, then the alcohol is probably unneccessary..I really only use it because I do DIY and with my juices I add Passion Flower Extract cause I'm just a CBAMF... 48 HOUR AIR DRY (LAME) or simply set your modern stove to 170 F and on the dryer function for about 30 minutes or so...I do 200 but eh I tend to tell people lower so they don't damage their product due to somethign I said

I did see a YouTube on de-bridging the atty. That was actually the first thing I tried...
The first time is the best because it seems at first as if you broke it..The first time I also went through the hell of simply trying to pull out all the fibers without removing anything else and it took forever...

@thread starter ~ Just find a pair of your sisters tweezers and give it hell and then put it back where you foudn it unwashed

Oh wait you are...And it's not working for you? If that isn't working and yyour getting a burnt like taste then I don't know what's going on...Sounds like you got a serious gunk problem or spmething but that shouldn't even be possible with the amount of time you've been using it...You sure your not playing with PF extract?=p

Perhaps attempt a dry burn...For a good 10 seconds or one cut off witha dry attie, puff on it as fast as you can and do not inhale...after fill it with 3 drops let it sit for a second and try that out...If your first one doesn't work don't try again because it does begin to shorten life if done too frequently
