Has anyone determined the drop/ml ratio of flavors dripped straight from the original container? Will this vary? Have an eyedropper, but no idea of drop/ml ratio on that either. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It varies depending on how big the dripper's hole is. But generally, 1ml = ~20 drops. To be 100% sure I'd measure it on a ml measuring cup, just to have an exact number, since it differs.

So basically measuring is going to be more accurate/consistent than using drops? What do all you experienced DIYers do?

Oh I meant measuring how many drops equals to 1ml on a measuring cup, that's if you want to use drops instead. As for me, I use two type of syringes. I use a big one for the VG liquid and I use it without the needle (since VG is a thick liquid), another big one for high amounts of ml for flavors, and a small syringe for detailed ml amounts for smaller amounts of flavors. I got them all from the pharmacy for around $0.28 each (I got a lot of them).

Here's a picture of the ones I mentioned above:

You may get 1ml of liquid out of 20 drops of something real thick .... but after checking this many many times with the typical thin 'PG' based DIY flavorings we all use to make our homemade juice, almost every one of them takes exactly 30 drops to equal 1ml of fluid.

That is using those cheap plastic bottles with the built-in dripper nipple on the end like the one shown below:

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like we have some varying results...I'll have to run my own little experiment and see what I get. Guess my first attempts at DIY probably have the % of flavor off significantly... wish I would have thought about this earlier. Now my next question would be if anyone knows of a good droid app that allows modifications to the drop/ml ratio. Mine is set at 24 and can't be changed. Will let anyone interested know the results of my experiment later.

Would be great if you could post the results here. I'm interested :D

Okay, this is weird. I got a consistent 42gtts/ml. Using 60/30/15 ml bottles of flavor. Would post the picture of the bottles but can't figure out how through my phone. Look just like the one fit simulator posted... Well, this complicates things a little. Don't think I'll be dripping anymore. Will have to measure in a 1 cc syringe.

I have measured the number of drops in a ml for water, pg and vg separately using a typical dropper:

Water=22 drops
pg = 32 drops
vg = 22 drops

As for measuring directly out of the bottle, I get 34 drops per ml of pg based FA flavoring purchased from PureVapes. Other vendors might produce different results.

How many drops of fluid equals a ml varies "widely" and is dependent on several factors. The type/size of dropper being used, viscosity (thickness), of the fluid being dispensed and ambient temperature which, to a large degree, also influences the fluid's viscosity. My large glass droppers dispense a ml of room temperature PG in 24 drops whereas my small plastic droppers require 45 drops to accomplish the same. When accuracy is important, I use a graduated syringe.

With this you can change drops, works on PC.
eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

Remove plunger from syringe put finger on end, add drops counting till you reach 1ml.
That is one way to determine drops from different bottles.
Suppose you could also stop at .25 or .50 and multiply.
For sample mixes I really need my drops.

I spent the 1st month or so counting drops and trying to eyeball syringes... I realized that virtually all my flavorings used different size tips or no tips at all, requiring me to find a stand alone dropper and the chore of having to go through all the different tip sizes and calibrate each flavors drops to ml, etc... an enormous waste of time and effort and a ridiculously imprecise way to attempt to tell people what my recipe is...

For $18, I got a 20g x 0.001g resolution scale (I do 5-10ml batches) on amazon and just started weighing everything. All the weight info is calculated in my juice Calculator, weights of the main ingredients/ml are found in the forum and now, I don't have to do a thing other than watch my scale, hit my weight, tare and repeat.

All I need is the scale, a couple of syringes for adding my bulk ingredients, some cheap droppers from drug store by me and about 5 mins to mix up any recipe I have and clean up.

It's so easy and efficient and consistent that I can't imaging ever going back to eyeballing anything in a syringe again...

I'll get off my soapbox now

Starting out I did drops a long time ago. I equated that 1 drop per 5 ml of base = 1%. But as previously stated drops are a very inaccurate method of measuring. This is why I use syringes. Sometimes I will use drops when doing some fly by the seat of my pants mixing where I'm just trying to do a quick (See how it taste) mix or an on the fly adjustment but for the most part I stick with syringes for my regular mixing.

I agree. I can see that already that each dropper is different; even ones in the same bottle type. That is only logical as these are massed produced and there is going to be a variation in the dropper hole size. However, it seems to me that deviation makes less difference the more you are mixing. For instance, if you are mixing 60ml of juice in one shot (you probably wouldn't be counting drops at that point) the deviation of a few drops + / - will not make a noticeable difference but at say 5ml it would make a big difference. I haven't been mixing flavors all that long at all but i have had other hobbies where accurate PPM mattered and made a big difference in the final calculation.

None of my dropper bottles are the same gtt/mL... and yep I've checked most of them lol. I use 1mL syringes as well... Even in a 2mL sample bottle I can be accurate to .5%. Now, lazy mixing days (like all this week) where I'm mixing shake n vape stuffs.... drops works out just fine. Yeah, there's a chance I could hit the Holy Grail of mixology and used drops and no notes... but I've been day by day mixing recently... No notes... Live dangerously and all that jazz. <don't suggest that.

This helps a lot. Don't know how long I could have gone dropping my random drops thinking alls good with the world...and my % are accurate. Wondering why this one tastes so different than that, hell I put 20 drops in both. Really glad I thought to ask this early on. You all have been a great help. Actually stumbled upon a post from a year or two back addressing the same issue. Don't mean to bring up old news, there's really a lot to go through here. If anyone knows of a thread related to cleaning plastic bottles or whether I need to move to glass for steeping, let me know. I'll weed through the posts in the meantime, but I hate to throw them away. Seems such a waste. Some of these flavors just cling to it...I'm trying to find a nice base and I swear I taste that clove I mixed in that bottle. If I have to move to glass...damn, this is getting expensive. And I haven't even really started.
