Okay, I'm sure that I am getting annoying at this point with all of my questions, but I will eventually be a pro like you guys. My husband and I are both having issues with not being able to taste our juices. I'm going to try to give you all as much info as I can here.

We are using Vision Extremes of various sizes. He's using a standard ego battery and I am mostly using the variable voltage dongle, but I also use a standard battery when I am being mobile. I have had this happen on each voltage level.

Between the both of us, we have a lot of different flavors including fruit, menthol, tobacco and dessert.

I know that this is a common issue when you first start vaping or go back to it after falling off of the wagon like we did.

I have read up on the many different ways to get the flavor back from changing flavors often to drinking water or soda after every couple of drags.

We have had varying success with these methods and I realize that this will eventually pass.

Now, finally, my question. One suggestion that I found was to dry burn between refills for top coils like the Visions. Is that safe to do, or are we likely to kill them? Thanks in advance, as always :)

Hey Bonny - Take a look at your coils and see if they are gunked up. If you use a lot of dark juices and sweet flavors they will gunk up quicker then a clear tobacco flavor.

When you dry burn them just be gentile with the wicks after they are dry. Don't touch them with anything when they are dry after the dry burn process. When you dry burn them just go really slow. Do a 5 seconds on 5 seconds off until you see the coils start to glow. A dim glow not a bright red glow. Once you see them glow switch your on/off sequence to on until you see them glow then of for 5 seconds. Keep that up until no more smoke and then refill and vape!

Good luck!

Edit: And FYI, I clean my Vision Mini every other day when I start to loose flavor or get the dreaded burnt taste. YMMV due to your juice but I don't think dry burning with any juice is needed every time you refill. That's a little over the top IMHO.

Okay, thanks for the info. I could have sworn it was someone here that said they dry burn between flavors, but it's been a couple weeks. Right now I'm drinking lemon water every so often and I used some saline nasal spray in case my nasal passages were dry. It is working so far. I just hope this problem doesn't persist.

Between flavors yes and no. Your initial question was "between refills" which I said no, not required unless your juice has gunked up the coil.

Now... The reason I say Yes and No "between flavors" is that some flavors work well very with others. You might actually find a new custom mix by not cleaning your carto when switching over to a different flavor. But on the flip side there are a lot of flavors that do not work well together. The one I vape 24/7/365 does not play well with others at all.

Good luck! And don't worry about asking questions. It's the only way to learn. The info that you're looking for is here someplace on ECF but it has gotten so huge it's hard to find the answer sometimes and the search function doesn't work that well IMHO. lol

I use visions extremes a lot, and I find if I just vape the tank pretty dry (where just the wicks look wet, but there's not more than a few drops of excess juice) I can just fill it up with the new juice and I don't have any problems. Now, if you're vaping a strong flavor like cola or menthol, you'll want to vape it really dry (no extra drops) and maybe even rinse it out before you refill. The ce2s are really good about not holding in flavors so it's easier to change up without worrying about too much of the old flavor hanging around.

Edit: I do try to rotate my flavors so they compliment each other if they do mix some, and often I'll run a small amount of a neutral flavor like vanilla through there to help vape out any old flavors if I'm worried it won't play nice with my next flavor.

I'll even vape some unflavored between flavors if I want to change before cleaning. Less risk of catastrophic mud juice flavor

For me when dry burning, I actually keep doing it even after it starts to glow red. So I'll go on and off with 5 sec intervals about 5 more times after the coil turns bright orange. It ensures that the coils get clean. Otherwise it never truly gets rid of the gunk completely if I stop as soon as it turns orange. I have yet to pop a coil
