ok-i took a good look at a shiny and matt atomiser...just naked eye stuff,no major revelations or conclusions-i'll leave the dismantling and internals up to Trog,he's good at that.

first, the matt ones cylinder looks very very slightly larger in circumference than the shiny one to me...

the wire span over the impression is wider in the matt one,and its all one span, like a rainbow...the shiny one has a thinner wire span, and its got a little protuberance on top...

the ceramic looks about the same in both, although it kinda hard to see very well....

performance wise, early days, but i cant see any great difference between the two just yet anyway...

i wish id kept some old ones, cos thats all i have on hand to compare at the moment...

im sure Trog will be able to do a proper analysis of the guts of the things, which will be much more enlightening...i just thought you'd like to know what i can see with what ive got.

they are different thow its not just the finish.. ??

big differences suggest deliberate design alterations.. small differences simply suggest they came from a different chinese factory.. to me the big factor is the little heater coil and what surrounds it.. its a cost nothing thing so why should some atomizers that look very similar to other atomizers fail noticeably quicker..

the biggest puzzle to me so far has been my cigarillo devices.. they go from being a nice smoke producer to wimp stage in around three days.. they all do it.. its not the odd one.. why so short a life.. its dosnt make sense.. but then again its chinese.. nothing chinese makes sense to me at the moment.. he he

u cant really look at theses things and tell a good one from a bad one..

i dont expect to find out anything except that it isnt just the paint finish that differs.. the part also differs.. that leaves the question why does the part differ.. if all they want to do is make look it more like a real cig with a matt finish why do the internals look slightly different..

I'm pretty sure that if not all of the DSE901's then a goodly portion of them are made by the farsee company in China.

This page Electronic Cigarette¦òCigar¦òMini E-cig¦òManufacturer says the DSE901 has the logo and a different paint finish from the current DSE901a model, which is what I think we are all getting now. What it doesn't make clear is if there is any improvement, changes, alterations to the atomizer.

well,i guess we could discuss this until we're blue in the face...but actual answers and concrete reasons arent easy to come by in the ecig area.

its frustrating, but im sure we arent going to get any disclosure from Chinese manufacturers or clarification from companies about any of this any time soon,if ever...so its all just speculation anyway...

i think i'll just see how it goes with this particular matt atomiser, and take it from there...im happy with it so far,so no point in looking for problems that arent there yet...

I was talking to smokester last night about this,

I think the matte white atomizers are going to be fine

he has sold 200 in the last few weeks and has had only 1 return which had a glue problem,

so hopefully there should be not much difference.

From a cosmectic veiw i think matte white with no writing is better than the (MINI CIG) LOGO that

looks dated and silly on the old atomizers.

one of the things that puts me off selling these things is not being 100% sure that the things i order are the things i get and will remain this way.. losing out on a large batch of bad e cigs is a gamble i would rather let the retailer take at the moment.. it helps justify his mark up as well..

course this dosnt mean he wont simply sell on the bad ones.. in some ways the poor bugger has no choice.. in truth a whole chunk of chinese industry cant be trusted at the moment.. i take small risks as a consumer but i would be reluctant to take larger ones as a retailer of size..

ps.. best of luck to the guys who are currently taking these risks

a message for jason.. the plain white batteries u sent matt last week have a run time of 2.5 hours when new.. about half the run time of the old striped ones..

i assume u trust our judgment on the issue but think its something u ought to know.. not much can be done about it.. but he expects to be buying batteries more often.. he he he

and the new matt finish atomizer sent to me for test seems to be getting close to the stage i retire em at after five days as my main device.. hmmm

the e cig world is conspiring against me.. having spent over three months looking for a better device with no real success and then going back to the one i started with.. it seems the good old 901 aint quite the same as it used to be.. grrr

not as i am surprised.. they were a little too good to be true.. when u start at the top the only way is down..

I received my first 901 today Darcy. The black one just like you but mine has blue LED. I've never used one of these before. I like the feel. Nice size in between pen and mini. And it's performing nicely out of the box...and that's a Godsend. BECAUSE, apparently last night there was a power outage (I was sleeping so I didn't know). My batteries did not fully charge so along about 11 am, all 3 of the cigs I took to work began it's usual wimp-out. (Time to change the batteries). Well, the recharged ones performed maybe about 10 to 15 minutes and then...wimpy, wimpy, wimpy...flashing lights...boom, bob's yer uncle, GONE. All of 'em. I prayed that all three of those devices didn't just up and die on me today. The rest of the day sucked hard.

I came home and noticed one of the clocks was flashing. (my main alarm clock has battery back-up so it wouldn't flash if power went out). That explained the three dead recharged batteries. Put those batteries on charge again...looks like a Christmas tree with all the red lights.

Anyhoo, I'm probably going to suck this 901 dry tonight. Atomizer, batts and carts. I just hope I have good luck with this one as you have had with your earlier 901. By the way, how is the new one treating you now?
