I've already emailed Amy about this and I'm sure it'll be taken care of but wanted to let current users know of a possible problem.

I received my 905 yesterday morning. Great vapor and good taste out of it after the batteries finally charged. I was alternating between it and my Protege for hours last night.

This morning I decided to use the 905 exclusively to check battery life, see how the atomizer held up, how much juice was being used and just plain enjoying using it. I'm really glad I was in a quiet room. I'd been vaping for awhile and then laid the 905 on the table next to me. A little while later I heard a very quiet popping noise (juice cooking off) and a burnt plastic smell. I picked up the 905 and damned near dropped it. It was HOT, EXTREMELY HOT!!!! I twisted it apart and broke the connection. When it cooled down I pulled a melted cart out of the atomizer. I have no idea how the thing was activated, there was no indication it was on, no LED, no NOTHING. If I hadn't been in an almost silent room and next to the 905 I wouldn't have known there was a problem until it was too late.

I haven't tried using the thing again, and probably won't. Once burned is enough.

Oh well, I didn't need those fingerprints anyway.

NormC, thanks for sharing this.
I bought 2 of them, and this actually happened to one of mine last night also.
I actually had it in my hand at the time, so I was able to unscrewed it before it got very hot.

I would suggest to others, if you want to continue using your 905, it's probably a good idea to take the battery out whenever your not using it.

Amy and I have discussed another problem about my other 905 and I know she is communicating with the manufacturer about these matters. I don't know if there are problems in the overall design, or if they have just been making them too fast (going for quantity, rather than quality.) Either way, I believe the issues will be resolved eventually.

I agree with you about the great taste, good vaper, and battery life. WHEN IT WORKS, it's a very fine e-cig.

Amy... thanks for looking in to these matters and keeping us informed. You ROCK! :thumb:

I got four of the 905's one died within the first hour. The remainder have this same problem! One person got a pretty bad burn on his lip because he picked it up stuck it in his mouth when it was hot. Today I checked one out with a volt meter if the bottom button is on there is positive voltage at the center atty connection. If enough e-liquid has run through the atty it floods the battery connection and makes the come on. Be very careful !!!! It gets damn hot! This is a serious flaw!! They should be issuing a warning to anyone who purchased one of these! May possibly be a fire hazard ?? I would think the atty would burn out first ?? I see now there is a version 2, do they already know of the problem??

My girl friend goes to fill up the cart the other day and says to me look someone chewed on this. I take a look and it's melted. I told her to make sure the master switch is off when not in use. Can there really be a cleaning cycle, removing the battery would wipe out any memory the chip would have. Also with the 10 second cut off does it go beyond 10 sec when it's doing this zombie dance also does it light up?

*** this is not a response from health cabin, and I do not represent them. I followed a link here and didn't realize I was in the health cabin forum, due to the severity of the issue I have kept my post here****

Folks, I have looked into the issue.

By installing a battery backwards (positive pointed away from the atty) the kit I tested wouldn't turn off as described here. I turned the battery around the other way, and the unit functioned correctly, in my case shut down with red flashed because the battery was low.

I have pulled my stock and will wait on a response from my supplier. For those that wish to continue to use these units, I would recommend they make sure the battery is installed pointing the correct way. Also when not in use, unscrew the atty 1 turn, enough that it is still connected but it breaks its connection and cannot be charged.

My battery was installed correctly when it overheated. There was absolutely no indication that it was on.

Your suggestion to unscrew the atty a bit is good. Thanks!

Hopefully the problem was fixed with the V2 model. From what I saw the only change making it V2 was sealing the battery compartment.

Prior to the problem I was really starting to like the unit. It felt great in my hand and just worked.

No idea on the cleaning cycle. I hadn't used enough to make the 1500 or so draws on it.

There's no indication the unit is on during it's "zombie dance".

Hey Peeps,

with the V2 905 MOD, there is a resistor that prevents liquid from getting inside the battery compartment, I've had mine for a few days now and I just opened it up right now and it is completely DRY no probs so far! ;)

BUT OFF TOPIC,

the KR Mini Pipe (Lady's Pipe) I have had that problem with JUST LAST NIGHT the pipe is actually a very simple product, what is it is basically a 801 atomizer connected to a pipe head and the pipe head contains the battery which is a 250 mAh battery, the liquid somehow got all inside and flooded the head and made the battery go off on its own, I head the sizzling noise so luckily I was able to unscrew the Atty from the head quite fast but if I had Left the room when it happened, there would have been a problem, a BIG problem.... so even though there are those safety gaskets, you have to still be careful with this KR pipe guy, but like I said, with the V2 for the 905 MOD no leaks so far into the battery compartment.

Don't count on that being the solution..

The one I replicated the problem with was right out of the box, with no more liquid than the primer it comes new with. It wasn't liquid that cause the overheating.

The three I have are still in use and it seems the only time they self ignite is when they have been used a while and liquid has built up in the battery connection then laid on their side for a while.

I have been using one all day and keeping it in my shirt pocket upright paying very close attn. to it. It hasn't done the "zombie dance" once today!

Two coworkers are doing the same but one is cleaning his connections between uses wiping everything out in the battery/atty connection no misfires here either?

The third one is being used with a 801 adapter normal use and hasn't misfired either?

Has anyone else with an adapter had one misfire?

These are all version 1 models as far as I know? Is there a way to tell the difference?
