Hey everyone.

I put together a new box mod over the weekend and it's my favorite so far. I used a Hammond 1590g, polished it up and used magnets to keep the lid on. The LED is a 150ma white SMD which is mounted with epoxy inside the box and epoxy in the hole so it acts as a light pipe. Converter is the OKR-6 with a tact switch using pin 5 on the OKR. I also supported the atty connector by using silver solder to lock it snug to the box so it will never wiggle (can't solder to aluminum but it rests right against the body).

Some pics attached.

Hey meat, very nice, neat and sturdy.........and shiny! :) I've been wanting to use this box for a long time but funds are short now, so I wait. Did you use the box for ground? What trimmer did you use? Again, great work.

Yes, VERY cool meat.
That is a FILET of box mods, It is very BEEFY.

Thanks guys :toast:

I used the atty connector as ground since you can't solder to aluminum so all the grounds terminate there. I'm having trouble finding it on Digikey but the pot was a 500ohm sealed trimmer. I ordered a bunch a few months back. It's a little twitchy but the 200ohm sealed trimmers were something like 7$ each.

Thanks. I drilled out the existing holes a bit to fit these: K&J Magnetics - Products then put these on top so they sit flush with the top: K&J Magnetics - Products

Put some epoxy on the magnets to keep them in place.

I also drilled out the holes in the box so the lid magnets fit snug when it's together and use steel screws with the heads cut off in the existing threads so I could tweak their height. Those got a tiny bit of super glue dripped on them to keep them set. The screws that come with the box don't work since they're aluminum and don't attract magnets but Home Depot had steel screws that fit.
