Okay, my AGA-T2 can be dual coiled, so I've been thinking about it. I have the wicks rolled, the coil is a snap, and I have no doubt I can put dual coils on it, but what would be the reason to do so? What's the trade-off? I'm sure it will drain the battery and the juice tank faster, but is it worth doing?

Currently I'm vaping at around .78 ohms on one coil, do the ohms on the two coils have to match up or do I just do a 4/3 wrap on both of them and check the resistance and go with that? I assume it will produce more vapor faster, but I really don't have a problem with what I'm getting with just one coil and wick, so is there another reason to do it other than cloud chasing? Would the flavor be any better?

It's completely up to you if it's worth it. The main reason people like to run a dual coil set up is that with combined resistance you can run sub-ohm, and have more surface area over your wicks for more juice and better flavor.
Yes both the coils do have to be around and as close to the same resistance as each other. Otherwise one will heat up faster than the other and it just won't work like a true dual coil.
If you are attempting to do a dual coil set up, it's suggested you use a thinner wire(aka higher gauge) to do a dual wrap with. Especially if you're only getting .78 ohms off of one. If you were to make the same coil as your current one and connect it, you're combined resistance would only be .39 ohms. Which would be insane. It's something obviously you can do, but I just wouldn't recommend it. Most sweet spots are right around .6 to .9 if they're sub-ohm.

And now the experts will chime in with all their more technical responses. :)

Ah, thank you for that, I guess I'd want to use my 32 ga. kanthal for that if I do it, and go with a 5/4 wrap, and see where that goes. Next time I can't resist monkeying around with my RBA I might just try it.

It's a lot of fun and addicting. Pretty soon you'll have 5 or 6 drippers with different styles of wraps and coils over them and since they all work so well you'll purchase more atty's and then you buy more and more and more....and the cycle continues. :)

Oh noooooooooo! It's bad enough as it is! I thought I was happy before today, and now I'm lusting after a Magneto and an AC9, and I'm maybe an hour away from dual-coiling my AGA, and you tell me this???

You are a mean person!

Just stay away from the Filipino RDA's and mechs and you'll be fine :p My favorite setup is the Cronus/ Helios

Are you using a mech with good IMR batteries?

You can make a dual coil like aznzing03 said...using thinner wire to increase resistance so you can keep the ohms higher.

You should make the coils the same ohms. If you don't, they won't heat evenly...one will be hot and the other cold.

Dual coil cartos exist. So dual coil RBAs are common. But you have to be aware of amp limits on devices too if you're not using mechs and also be aware of battery limitations/cautions on mechs.

It's easy to imagine a dual-coil setup that ends up being two coils at your same .78 ohms. You'd use the thinner wire and double the length of each coil compared to what you have now.

Would you like the vape? That's different. The watts divide across the coils. See? So if you're at X watts on a mech now, and you use the same ohms with two coils you're at X/2 watts per coil. That's why the SLR guys are always talking about low ohm ranges like .39 ohms.

I've used a dual coil RDA setup on a VV box mod and just upped the volts. But I had to stay within the PV's amp limit so it took some thought.

Yes, and we have been through all of this already in other threads. I use IMR 18650 2000 mAh batteries, the big RED batteries. I do know at least that much about running a sub ohm RBA on a mech.
The AW 2000 mah 18650s are rated at 10 amps. The AW 1600 mah 18650s are like 20 amps. The 2000's will handle a .5 ohm coil, but won't hit as hard like the 1600's would.
