dual coil help

So i got in some "1.5ohm dual coil carto's" today.

As i always do i hook it up to my provari set to 3.0 v(so as not to pop coil on a dry carto). and go through the menu to the AO setting, which checks the atty's ohms. these 1.5 dual coils show

6.1 ohms....seriously?? HOW>???

dual coils are set in parallel which means you have to run double the normal setting you want to get the effect. See the attached drawing. Ignore the series as they are not used. Just showed it as an example. I also attached a calculator for you.

I have a provari but I never used a dual coil on that battery. FYI some batteries do not like dual coils.

Other thing you may have is a bad one. They should measure 1.5 ohms at the contacts where they connect to the battery.
AS 1.5 ohm dual coil is two 3 ohm coils in parallel or it should be. At least the ones I had were. Sounds like you have a bad connection.

when i tried vaping at 6 volts i got almost no vapor.

the reading was done by the provari. i doubt it has gone bad

Sure sounds like a bad carto! It should read 1.5Ω ±0.2

If it is really a dual coil at 6 volts and 6 ohms you will only get 3 watts per coil. Below the generally acceptable lowest wattage of 4 watts and way below the 8 watts most run.

Oh lastly if it were truly a 1.5 ohm dual coil at 5 volts you would get 8.3 watts per coil which would be a good vape. But you would be at over 3 amps which many PV's and few APV's don't like.

I use 1.5 ohm dual coils pretty much exclusively. My Provari reads them correctly at 1.5 ohms. It certainly sounds like you have a bad carto. Try swapping it for a different one.

I've found a better, in my opinion, carto than the EMDCC. It's also a Smok, but it is the EMSCC at 1.7 ohms. It's shorter than the EMDCC, but holds just as much liquid. Works very well with VV. Find'em at Mad Vapes and Hoosierecigsupply. Be careful, as there is a clear version and a metal version. I've found out, the hard way, that the mouthpiece on the clear ones tend to get stuck in the carto and you have to pry them out. The black metal ones do not have that problem.

and come to find out i simply ordered the wrong carto, they are 3.0 ohm dual coils.

Oops I do the same thing all the time. Get something and think what a piece of crap! This junk don't work then it turns out its Im the one that don't work. ;-) You should still be getting some nice warm vape at 6V Or you can spend 160$ for a DNA 20 mod so you dont waste your 2$ cart.

I didn't even know those were still made. I used them at 8.4 volts back in my fearless Roughstack days.

And this is the main reason I only use single coil Lr cartos in my tanks.
