I've just built dual micro coils on my Protank 2 and I'm impressed with the flavor and vapor produced.
I used 34g kanthal 11 wraps each on a 18g needle. Used cotton butcher twine. Came out to 1.6 ohms. Using this on a Provari at 4 volts and its a champ!
Now I'd like to build triple coils in there with the same method. I'm trying to conceive the math for ohmage. If I'm getting 1.6 ohms on 2 coils (3.2 ohms each) then would I get .8 -1 ohm on 3 coils? I prefer .8- 1 ohm but I'd like to vape at a higher voltage than the maximum 3 volts on a single .8 ohm micro coil and maximum 4 volts of dual coils.
Just playing around today to see what I can come up with.
Thanks for your input.

Thanks, I got it after thinking about it awhile. I just divide 3.2 by 3.
So I built it and Holy Vapor. It might be more vapor than I care to exhale. Probably not but this is great! I got 1.1 ohms just like the math said I should. Have to vape it at 3 volts so I don't burn it but thats ok.
So It is possible to do 3 mico coils in a protank! I could possibly squeeze 4 but one would have to sit perpendicular to the rest unless I let them all touch which I have not yet.
I also noticed that 3 coils tightened up the draw on the protank a little which is now perfect for me.
It was tricky to get all 3 sitting level but only took 15 minutes to build.

Here is the triple micro coil built as described in the first post. Yes it works! 1.1 ohms but next time I'll use cotton ball cotton instead of cotton butchers twine. The twine does not wick as well and I get some dry hits if I chain vape it. None of the coils are even touching if its not clear in the photo.
The only disadvantage of this and using cotton is that you cannot replace the cotton in the two end coils because of the angle. I think I prefer the dual setup as it vapes nearly the same.

I've seen people build triple nano coils in there with the diameter of a thick sewing needle. The only thing I question is the quality of the housing to support that much heat inside such a tiny space, especially from something that was never meant to be rebuilt in the first place, not to mention that small plastic isolator.

Very cool. Did you twist the legs together or seperate?

I didn't twist the legs because you need to adjust each coil separately for the correct height just after the positive pin is inserted.
No leakage into the battery no flooding and not even a gurgle. In fact, all I get every time is that crisp vaping sound of frying bacon. I've replaced the butchers twine with organic cotton ball material and I can now chain vape my face off without a dry hit anywhere.
I've been on the dual coil for a day now and I don't think I will ever go back to a single coil protank. The flavor and vapor is profound. Paired with the provari and a 18650 3400 mah battery I get 2 full days of perfect vaping before the light starts blinking (about 7 mils of juice). This also fires easily on my ego twists and Spinners but I'm not sure of the battery life on those since I use the Provari mainly.
It eats up the juice a little faster but the trade off is well worth it in my opinion.
I'll be rebuilding the triple coil today with the organic cotton and report back.

I have not burnt the rubber isolator yet and as far as the metal housing, I think it should hold up fine. Time will tell but In fact, I take less vapes now that I'm actually satisfied with my first vape instead of having to warm it up with a pre vape then around vape 4 or 5 getting what I wanted. Well.... maybe not less vapes but at least I'm happy with all the vapes. I think Kanger is on to the improvement as well, hence the introduction of the Protank 3 with dual coils.
Overall, its on par with my smoktech scar dripper in terms of vapor but not in flavor however the flavor has nearly doubled with the new coils.

Update, After vaping 2 full days and nearly 4 tanks of various liquids, viscosity, darkness, I started to get dry hits and thought it might be too good to be true. So I checked the 2 coils and noticed a little bit of gunk on the cotton flavor wick and some dark looking coils. I used a blunt needle and scraped across and in between the coils to remove the ash and flipped over the flavor wick. Bam!! back in action and s super crispy sizzle vape. I suppose I may only be able to do this a handful of times before needing do a proper dry burn and wick replacement.
