I'm new to the rebuildable attys and just picked up a DID clone and was wondering what size of mesh to cut to make my first wick. Thanks in advance.

Start with a 30-35mm x 40mm piece and after tht, adjust the size to your liking. (Sizes approx.; YMMV)
