Dumb question about batterys

I really don't know much about electronics or batterys. Is it necessary to always drain the battery completely before recharging?

I have one battery that works well for quite a while after being recharged then really starts to fade performance-wise but doesn't completely die for a loooong time.

What about PCCs?

I try to charge mine when the vapor seems to fade even with a fresh cart.Usually have two fully charged at all times and use my pass through when in front of the computer.

Interesting. It would be nice to always use a fully charged batt.

I always completely drain batt.
I charge all night.
My batts last a few months.
Hassle finishing off a weak batt.

Maybe I will start charging half dead batts.

I have three manual batts, two I got from another vendor in my starter kit and another XL batt (recommended, btw) that I ordered from V4L. Two of them perform pretty well until just a few minutes before they die. One, like I said, doesn't seem to have the same staying power.

Does draining the batt completely extend their life? If so, how much longer? Does anyone know? Sorry, if I'm being a PITA but I'm still new to the e-cig world?

VDS_NY- I think what you are worried about is called creating a "memory" that degrades the battery performance. While I'm by no means an expert, my understanding is that that is NOT an issue with Lithium batteries. The concern stems from the days of Ni-Cad batteries which were notorious for developing a "memory" if charged without being completely drained first.
I've been recharging my VK batteries (in all levels of discharge) for about a month now and they are all (5 of 'em) working just as good as the day I got 'em.

I've used them without allowing them to recharge fully too... so far so good.
This shouldn't be an issue with Lithium-ion batteries.

Again, I'm not an expert. If you go to Wikkipedia and search "Lithium-ion battery", you'll probably get more answers than you can shake a stick at! LOL

I don't wait for mine to go dead -- I stick them on the charger when the performance starts going down. I've been rotating 4 batteries for about 6 weeks now with no problems.

Oh, and I have also used a battery a few times that wasn't completely charged up when I was out of the house and my main one died. I don't see any negative effects from it.

Here's my experience (your mileage may vary):
I got two auto batteries with my starter kit (from another vendor) and one manual batt from V4L. Had them all about 30 days.

I gave one auto to my wife, who vapes only occassionally.

I use the manual pretty much exclusively, hitting the auto only when I want a flavor change, once or twice a day.
I'm not a heavy vaper: 4-5 drags every 1-1.5 hours (maybe 40 drags a day?)
Use the manual Passthrough at night at the computer while the batts are charging.

I charge the manual every night, no matter how much I've used it.
I charge the auto every couple of days, whether I've used it or not.
I charge my wife's auto maybe once a week.

All 3 have seem to perform the same following this regimen--they do seem to be slightly more powerful immediately after a charge, but I don't notice any major drop-off in power throughout the day and they haven't seemed to lose their charge any sooner from constantly recharging them.

I guess only time will tell if this is weakening their ability to either take and/or hold a charge.

You won't hurt anything by recharging early. In fact, Lithium-Ion batteries like being topped off.
