Dumb question... I think...

So I have been an exclusive mod only vapor until recently a friend of mine bought an ego kit for his grandmother. Now, I am in love with the small size and still similar battery life. I bought a 5 pack of tornado batteries and a PCC with 2 cones from TW which arrived today, and now I feel like a newb.

I have the PCC charging on my laptop with a battery plugged into the PCC. The light on the PCC is now green but when I unplug it from the laptop it just goes off - cool. I am curious however how do I tell when the tornado battery is charged when it is unplugged am I missing something?

Please don't think I'm trying to give you a smart .... answer, because I'm really not.

First, if your battery is not charged it either won't work or you'll get minimal vapor.
Second, a lot of us keep a Digital Volt Meter or Multi-meter to check batteries and cartomizers, etc. They are inexpensive and you can usually get them at Radio Shack or a building supply company.

Some mods, my Buzz is a good example, have a light that glows blue/red when the batteries are strong enough to power the unit and then it turns red when the batteries run out of power.

I don't know if your particular battery does this or not.

I know that part I was asking pertaining to my PCC because if I am out and about I won't be carrying a volt meter nor do I want a half charged battery. I was asking if there was some special way to tell if the PCC finished charging the battery while the PCC is unplugged.

Looking at their video, the 1 light only indicates the state of the PCC battery, red when charging, green when fully charged, then red again when it's discharged; so there's no way to tell about the state of the Tornado battery. However, if your battery dies and you put it on to charge in the PCC, I'd think it'd be fully charged by the time you drain your second battery. You wouldn't leave the house without at least 1 full battery, would you?

The short answer would be no. The video explains the short coming of the PCC case. The British chap explained that they are trying to work with the vendor to remedy this with more lights.

One solution, and I know this requires spending more cash, but next time you buy a battery, get the USB passthrough version (your batteries will fail eventually anyway so a purchase is inevitable). I use mine constantly. They are great if you are driving. You can get a car usb adapter fairly cheaply (about $15). The adapter I have has two USB plugs, so you can charge multiple things (phone, mp3, etc) at the same time.

Its the short battery version, so without being plugged in, it will last 3-5 hours. I vape heavy (4 to 5 mL a day). The nice thing is, once it's plugged in it continue to charge while you vape. If you have a dead battery, you only have to have it plugged in for 2 to 3 minutes before you can resume vaping. The plug in is a mini usb to usb2, and when you order, it come with a 5 foot cable. The plug is on the opposite end of the atomizer terminal and has a red led in the end to indicate charging, it goes off when fully charged. It can also be charge with a traditional tornado or eGo charger at the atomizer terminal end.

They only come in black, short model and are manual operation. They work great. I have had my first one for a full month and without being plugged in, it still holds out for 3 to 5 hours. They retail for about $20. The usb plug is firm and I'm sure will hold up to wear and tear for the life of the battery.
