I love America simply because........It is America, it is home. Land of the free and definitely home of the brave. We do have the freedom to speak our minds, vote, choose our religion, run our own household and we and our children have a choice to be whatever we or they want to or dream to be...from a judge. to a lawyer, doctor, retail worker..and everything or anything we wish to. I love America each and every day but especially on those special days like 4th of July or Veteran's Day or Memorial Day I really think about what this country means to me. Hearing the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful and God Bless The USA and all the new songs that have come out , they can bring tears to my eyes and I feel such pride. I am truly proud to be an American.....and the song says the rest. My prayers and thanks go out to all our men and women overseas that give of themselves everyday and their families who support them in the fight to keep this country as awesome as it is!!

Thank You for this contest and Good Luck to everyone!!

I love America because the American founding philosophy allows for the ability to reach the highest potential for standard of living and happiness. Though this doesn't hold true to every citizen, the American Constitution and Bill of Rights are not so arrogant as to present America as infallible. Citizens are not only encouraged but expected to address the flaws in America's governance or lack thereof. In this way, our founders have given us a means of building upon our country, a way to adapt to new challenges and a mechanism by which any citizen (regardless of whether they are natural born or naturalized) can incorporate their perspective into our society.

To conclude, America in it's truest sense has a humility that allows us to build upon our weak points. In this way we will be a prominent global fixture for years to come.

Wow! Great contest idea and a terrific prize to boot! Thank you for this opportunity, Eric!

:)

One thing I love about America is the tremendous support of our troops. Most Americans have been touched by or experienced the sacrifice our military members make....whether a friend, a relative, or a hometown hero....and we (or at least the majority of us) have learned to appreciate this (unlike those who previously condemned our Vietnam veterans). My heart swells when I see a Marine being greeted by a cheering crowd at an airport, or an Airman being thanked for her service by a child at a convenience store...a Navy PO being bought a coffee by the stranger before him in a Starbucks, or a Solider receiving a "welcome home" salute from a cheering crowd at a basketball game.

Our military protects and fights for our country...the country we love, the freedoms we enjoy. I love America because the sacrifices of my friends and family are now truly appreciated and embraced by the majority of our society...and, to me, that is one of the greatest honors of being an American.

A·mer·i·can [uh-mer-i-kuhn]
adjective
of or pertaining to the United States of America or its inhabitants: an American citizen.

Car.ing
verb (used without object)
to be concerned or solicitous; have thought or regard.

These definitions are what makes Americans Great & where we live Special.
Example: There is not another place that I know of that has had such horrific tragedies in recent years as far as even the weather alone. When catastrophes happen here people from all over this country pull together and act as one. The sharing, love, caring, the giving, & help of all kinds happens in a matter of minutes. We all struggle together. We all become some ones HERO in their time of need. It's not this land we stand on and call "America" that makes a difference in our lives, it's the people. :)

America is a great place to live because of the diversity of those who inhabit it. I personally think our great nation is suffering under the thumb of corporations more and more day by day, our freedoms are being stripped down, and people are ignoring many of the negative aspects of this society even though it is floating right in front of them; but, this will not deter me from loving my country and trying my best to make people see how our society needs to change to see a distant and stable future.

The United States of America is a great place because of our Bill of Rights!

Freedom of speech and The Right to keep and bear arms are my two favorites,

If I didn't have the right to speak my mind I think I'd have to be a shut in!

If I couldn't carry my pistol I wouldn't feel safe to go see some of my favorite people because they live in a scary area. Plus I wouldn't be able to have my PINK gun! Idk if I'm allowed to post a picture of it so I won't. :p

My love for this country has lessened in correlation with the lessening of our freedom & rights.
Our founding fathers would be ashamed of what it has become.

But it is still the best place in the world to live.

I totally agree! Especially under our current president! He is working very hard at taking our rights away! He's been successful at taking part of our first amendment by making it illegal to say something negative about him when he's within a certain range and now he's working with the UN to take our second amendment away which is our right to bear arms! I for one will not go down without a fight!

This is not a contest entry, as I won the last contest and do not desire to participate in this contest. However, I would like to comment on the contest topic.

I spent 24 years in the Marine Corps, "touring" many foreign nations under varying circumstances, some pleasurable, some not so pleasurable. I can honestly say that NONE of the places I have been and lived can hold a candle to the good old USA. Yes we seem at times to be our worst enemy with the controversies, scandals, disagreement over civil liberties and rights, and many other things that in fact make America what it is, the best Country on earth.

Is America utopia? No. Hopefully we'll find utopia in another life to which we all will some day transition. But I'm here to tell you that with all our perceived shortcomings we are as the saying goes the best Nation on God's green earth.

As a popular Country Song states, I'm Proud to be an American, and thank God that I was born in this country.

The 4th of July means a lot of different things to me...a time to be grateful to those who sacrificed their freedom, so that I might have mine. A time to pay tribute to those who gave their lives as the ultimate price in the name of freedom, and a time to remember all those who were scarred and maimed, some physically, all mentally...while fighting for that freedom. It is a time to think about the high cost of this freedom and the fact that FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

The fourth of July always reminds me of my mom, it was her birthday. This will be the second birthday that she isn't here for. She passed the day before Thanksgiving 2011. I always remember the huge party we had on the fourth!

We also celebrated the fourth for it's true meaning... That's our country's independence and the beginning of freedom from tyranny! This is why I will protect our way of life to the death!

I love my country, my dad was a Full Bird Colonel in the Washington National Guard and believe you me he ALWAYS loved his country!

We have freedoms that no one else in the world have.

The following is a list of our first 10 amendments there are 27 ratified amendments though but these are the big ones!

"The Preamble to The Bill of Rights
Congress of the United States
begun and held at the City of New-York, on
Wednesday the fourth of March, one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.

THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

RESOLVED by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, two thirds of both Houses concurring, that the following Articles be proposed to the Legislatures of the several States, as amendments to the Constitution of the United States, all, or any of which Articles, when ratified by three fourths of the said Legislatures, to be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of the said Constitution; viz.

ARTICLES in addition to, and Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, proposed by Congress, and ratified by the Legislatures of the several States, pursuant to the fifth Article of the original Constitution.

Granted the fourth if July is about our Declaration of Independence and that made way for The Bill of Rights which then made way for the amendments and our way of life.
