Sorry @stols001 was really just a joke but anyways. I do know what hypomania is. I wasn't sure it was a term that everyone except for you would understand hence my 'mild mania' terminology. I find a lot of people these days are trying to minimize mental illness into something everyone has at some stage of their life. The government here in Australia are trying to find ways to downplay mental illness so they don't have to provide disability pensions etc. The term mental health is what i'm getting at. A lot of people are needing 'mental health' days in recent times but are back fit and ready for life after 24 hrs. I'm sure you know mental illness isn't quite the same. I'm sorry if i 'mildly' upset you. I thought you had a thick skin...

Okay then. My dad lived in Aus don't you lot get something insane like 12 weeks of vacation a year. A "mental health" day is actually a "thing" here in some companies but like, we get way less vacation overall. I think.
Aus is cutting back on everything. They are running out of money like many socialist governments. I hear the healthcare has become uniformly bad. Same in England, they have this crazy notion about stabilizing Bipolar I people (and ever schizophrenics) and then stopping their dang meds. Although maybe not everyone... IDK. I just know I love England but I can't live there.
I think there should be a "floor" to protect the vulnerable, and part of the price of that floor is there will be a certain amount of malingering and fraud and it's a shame, but it is what it is.
IDK Aus economy? I don't even know what it IS actually? Are opals still popular? I always thought they sucked but we usually visited some opal place right after driving across the country to visit the grandparents and so I was usually in a bad mood. That drive is epically boring.
MH is usually funnier for those who "know" about it if the symptoms are right, unless you are watching a show like ER where you know medicine, for kicks and you enjoy all the Erroz…. Tat show Jim Jeffries did about his autistic brother was awesome. Of course, everything he does is ASWESOME. LOL

Oh if you want to see the "best" worst show on mental illness ever made, you nee to watch "Psych." I think there were like, 6 episodes but EVERY one is worth a watch. It briefly appeared after House, and like was sort of similar except the actor playing the "psych" version of "House" had none of the Charisma and awesomeness of a Hugh Laurie.
In the pilot the psychiatrist stripped down bone naked to "connect" with this schizophrenic who thought clothes contained demons or SOMETHING, I forget. I DO remember thinking, "If ANY psychiatrist ever stripped down naked to connect with me I would just DIE, and then also SUE." But then the psychiatrist (in an effort to discover more about his patient) BROKE INTO the guys place and took a look around. It turned out he was artistic like and his meds took that away and so they reduced his meds greatly and like, gave him "acupuncture and aromatherapy."
That show made me move a psychiatry appointment and like, it was because my pdoc at the time was this very earnest, skinny and hairy dude, and I kept imagining him STRIPPIING down naked BEFORE me, and like, I actually couldn't stop laughing. I was terrified I was gonna start giggling at my appointment and like, my pdoc,. being who he was, would ask WHY and I am a poor liar.... I needed time for it to wear OFF.
I knew after the pilot this show's days were numbered but they did manage to get in the fabled unicorn "Folie a deux" diagnosis, where you have your primary hallucinator, who is psycho, but has an easily influenced partner who then begins to believe the hallucinations too .It's like one in a billion or something.
The primary hallucinator was an OBGYN and he (and his wife) were really pretty damn sure she was pregnant but it was not the case alas.
So, the psych guy convinced the OBGYN his wife's pregnancy was like fatally flawed and needed to be aborted and insisted he do it and there was this creepy scene of the OBYGN ADVANCING upon his wife and I was like,"Dood, this is not COOL I bet a D$C isn't good for you PERIOD let alone one performed by a psychotic spouse." But, the guy realized he loved his wife too much and their "mutual hallucination" was fixed.
Damn it. I miss that show so much.
There was of course an episode on ECT. I think lighting was involved somehow? I can't remember. I should re-watch.
