OfficialWire: Easy As Step 1,2,3: The Most Controversial Electronic Cigarette

For just $150 bucks (a $400 dollar value) you can get crappy e-cigs that come with 3 different nicotine strength-ed carts designed to ween you off nicotine in 30 days. The entire website is a sham and touts "clinical trials" and that the "FDA found this product safe" - the worst scam site I have ever seen. I feel truly sorry for anyone who buys a $30.00 e-cig for $150.00 with a goal in mind to QUIT smoking. I personally was an accidental quitter, and still have my pack of analogs should I want to burn one. The site also advertises that it is unique to ALL the other e-cigs out there because they dont want you to SWITCH to e-cigs but to QUIT nicotine altogether.

This is ammunition for the FDA to affirm that e-cigs are drug delivery devices, and i wish I could do something about this and shut the site down so I thought I'd at least share it.

FAQ
1) Is it cheaper to order through your TV infomercial or internet? Currently, our TV informercial and internet prices are equal.

2) How is your electronic cigarette different from others that are being sold at cheaper price? There are two types of electronic cigarettes on the market; Disposable ones that are 2 piece and reusable 3 piece electronic cigarette. We are neither of them, our electronic cigarette is designed for you to quit smoking, not switch to electronic cigarette. It comes with 3 different levels of cartridges, 24mg for the first 10 days, 16mg for another 10 days, then finally 11mg for the last 10 days of the month.

3) How do I know this will work for me and what is the guarantee that you have? 99.9% customers were satisfied with our product and customer service. If you don’t like our product, simply return it to us and we will refund your order.

That's not good. The reason the FDA hasn't been able to stop ecigs cold is because the suppliers have marketed it as a 'recreational' tool. Once they start calling it a medical device or nicotine delivery device or smoking cessation device, they are opening the doors to a long ban while the FDA 'tests' the product. Which really just means all the small suppliers go out of business and Big Pharma takes the whole market over.

Don't they READ? Aren't they aware of what's been going on with the FDA and other parties interested in taking over this market?

How is weaning down to 11mg supposed to help you quit? basically, when you run out you are quitting cold turkey. It should at least give you a few weeks of 0mg.

Sheesh - I use 10-12mg liquid regularly. That's hardly a quitting level.

I'd like to see this FDA report claiming it safe and the clinical trials.

The way that FAQs is worded, it sounded like English wasn't their first language.

It also has a chart that says it's ok for the "pregnant smoker." Lovely!! (Further down on the page they say that "forbidden user" includes pregnant & nursing women, so I don't know what that message is.)

They also have the video from the ECA on their site and use quotes from Dr. Seigel and Dr. Laugesen. If I was them, I would send them a cease-and-desist letter immediately!!

Yeah, I believe that:

My name is Dr. Brian and I am the founder of Electronic Cigarette 123. Thank you for taking the time to read this message …YOU WILL BE THANKFUL YOU DID!

Proceed to Buy Electronic Cigarette

Let me ask you a simple question. Quitting smoking is difficult right? WRONG! Quitting Smoking is only difficult if you don’t know how.
I have extensively tested using electronic cigarette on over 1000 smokers. The results were outstanding with a success rate of 92.4% of the smokers I tested managed to Quit Smoking for at least 1 month, with by using Zero nicotine level cartilages! Successfully 85% of the original 1000 have not smoked for over 6 months, since the test started.

The Electronic Cigarette 123 program is without doubt the easiest way available to kick those evil cancer sticks out of your life for good. It eradicates the usual problems that are associated with quitting smoking such as cravings, short temper, hunger and weight gain. It is so successful because it overcomes your desire to light up.

Personally, I prefer using "cartridges." I try to stay away from "cartilages."

The woman I spoke with on the phone had never heard there was a court case. I obtained an email address from her and wrote the company. My first several paragraphs described the case and provided links to the FDA press release, FDA brief, and SunVaporer's synopsis of the case here on ECF. Here's an exceprt from the rest of what I wrote.

"Easy As Step 1,2,3 (Electronic Cigarette 123) is not a normal electronic cigarette you can find on the net. This product has been in research for more than 3 years and have a proven track record of clinical studies of 20,000 users (12 months of clinical studies) compared to what others on the market.”

Where have these clinical trials been conducted? By whom? What institution served as the IRB to protect the interests of the human subjects? Where are the results published? I sincerely hope this isn’t made up, because the community of electronic cigarette users is decrying the lack of clinical trials. If you have this information, please send me a link or put me in contact with the researcher.

Even if you have the above information, the FDA still does not consider your products "clinically proven," because the research above was not part of the FDA drug approval process.

The only way these products are going to remain legal to sell and legal to use is if the FDA loses the court case and is forced to regulate the products under the Tobacco Act. Even if that occurs, companies such as yours will be shut down for making health claims. The only way to stay in business is to state that your product is an alternative to smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes, rather than claim it is a "smoking cessation" product that competes with the FDA-approved drugs and nicotine replacements.

Meanwhile when companies such as yours make health claims, it reflects badly on all electronic cigarette sellers and weakens our case. Please take down your site.

See - IF our officials were doing their jobs, they'd shut down THIS site, and leave the ones citing recreational usage alone.

That's what protecting the population is about - silencing the snake oil salesmen who make false claims to sell their products.

Unfortunately, our scenario in real life is far, far different.

I sent an e-mail to the contact person listed on the press release informing them that their claims violated the FDCA, and could result in the FDA seizing their products.

I also sent them the two amicus briefs that were submitted yesterday delineating these issues.
Thank god... wonderful :)

Unreal. You can just look at the site and see that it's snake oil, but something like this is exactly what the FDA will cite in their upcoming hearing.

Some site inconsistencies:

  • They're selling one kit for $149.00, and One Kit + 1 FREE KIT for $199.00. The free kit costs $50.00?
  • There is a 15 day money back guarantee, as well as a 30 day 100% money back guarantee.
  • The 15 day refund states that the product must be returned within 15 days of original purchase date, but also contains several hoops you must jump through (e-mail them, then fax them, also can't use more than 75% of the cartridges they send). How in god's name do they expect all of that to be done from 15 days of the purchase date?
  • Their contact page contains three banners, all links to tattoo websites or tattoo product sites.

This site is everything we've been dreading. I hope to god something is done about it before the FDA happens upon it (if they're not the reason that it exists in the first place).

Btw Bill, I  you! It's so refreshing to see people in a position of power being objective, learning the facts, and being proactive instead of just trying to line their pockets. It gives me hope for humanity!

Oh, and I  you too Vocalek!

Also they say it's a 300 dollar value for a starter kit.... 800 dollar value for 3 kits... LOL and can I mention again that they say it's safe for pregnant women? lol...
