First things first. My name is Joanna Watt. I am one of the owners of Instead and all of my family and friends here on the forum know me as "Lacey".
As many of you know several suppliers got together this past weekend to form an association and we had planned to make a formal statement. However, tonight’s call warrants us to skip past the formalities and rally everyone on this forum to do what needs to be done. This is not a “What can you do thread” This is a “WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO”.
It has come to our attention that the FDA is taking a firmer stance on the electronic cigarette. This isn’t to say that it is banned or that it is illegal, it is only to say that they are becoming bolder in their actions at the border.
If you are interested in participating on a level that will make a difference, our sources are strongly suggesting that you contact the following people with letters sent certified mail, fax or via phone, with your testimonial on how the electronic cigarette has changed your life:

goldie at this point IMO, it's anybody's guess what the future of e-cigs is going to be. It's pretty much up to you whether you think you should stock up on supplies or not. Have read that some have stocked themselves up to last a year or more, others not so much.
In either case, it's always good to have backup hardware because of the failure rates.

There is no ban. If a ban were to come into effect, the news will be all over this fourm in bold letters.
Some day, there may be laws changed regarding the e-cig.
Some people are stocking up in case future problems arise. The choice to stock up is yours. Laws take years to come into effect. Some are fighting to squash the laws now, and some are waiting to see what happens.
Some suppliers are having problems with Customs, but those are huge orders in the thousands of dollars, and a lot of the problems stem from improper paperwork. No small orders from people like us have been bothered.
There's absolutely no sense in worrying about what *might* happen. Just enjoy your e-cig.

I got mine from Best Ecigs yesterday and no problem at all. 4 day delivery time from China to Rhode Island. Never even went through customs from what the tracking tells me, or if it did, it sailed right past them.
The first NO was a reponse to the 'should we be preparing ourselves for a ban?' question. The second referred to the 'have shipments been refused?' question. I don't know what the response should be to the first question, but 'NO' to the second does not appear correct across-the-board. Recently a vendor noted prominently on her web site that a shipment of 901 gear was seized by Customs. A second recently e-mailed a newsletter noting a Customs seizure of some hardware he had ordered (or e-liquid was seized, or both -- I can't recall the details at the moment).
So maybe it isn't exactly time to hit the panic-button, but there apparently have been some seizures by Customs. How prevalent this is or exactly why it's done in a given situation, I don't know. (And no, I don't have first-hand experience with this -- so I can't either verify or dispute the vendors' statements about the seizures.)
The order I placed (from China) on the 29th, is spending the 4th of July in San Francisco. So it did get out of China at least. Hopefully, it will arrive here after the festivities... Monday or Tuesday.
I've have heard of no individual orders being seized and I have had no problems with orders from China. But many members are stocking up just in case. 100+ atomizers and 1000ml+ of juice.
