Not much can be done but I will contact the Mexican tourism agencys and let them know as long as I can't bring my pv into the country I will put off any vacation plans I have to go there.

Btw, this is no idle threat I was planning to go back to Tulum for a week or two this year.

Bummer because I love Mexico but we need to stick together and send some kind of message on this one.

Thanks a lot for the support!

Well, just made it to Sonora with my PVs intact. I had at least 3 bottles of juice in my checked bag and 3 batteries + Cartomizers in my carry-on and had no problem. I was worried there for a sec.

I put the batteries in my backpack in with a bunch of pens. Probably hard to tell the difference.

Buenos Noches Juan and good luck in getting the vaping going.

Juan, I stocked up quite heavily on 510 parts. After the judge's ruling today I feel safe in parting with some hardware, so I would be willing to sell you some manual batteries and atomizers. I would be happy to mail them off to you if you are interested. You would still need at least one battery charger, as well. We might even be able to make arrangements on some juice to get you started, but you would still need to find a way to get that yourself in the long term.

Before you consider it, you should take a look at Tropical Bob's method for making nicotine juice using Snus, and consider whether or not you can get those yourself, and would consider making a go of it.

Just let me know if you want to do it.

I tried blucig and others decent suppliers (avoiding Chinese cheap crap), none will send to Mexico, if you come here you must disassemble your e-cig and put the parts separated and pretend is something else, customs will confiscate any e-cig they see.

Yes its very sad to see how the tobacco beast are trying the best they can to stop the distribution of these things.

They ALL come from China, even blucig, in other words (your words) they ALL are "Chinese cheap crap".

Yes it is ridiculous, here is the COFEPRIS link and they argument to ban it from Mexico (u can almost smell Philip Morris money in the pdf file):

Code:
cofepris.gob.mx/work/sites/cfp/resources/LocalContent/854/4/b84.pdf
Also usually no one cares about laws in Mexico, u can go around smoking pot and pay the cop in turn 1 buck to look the other way no prob, this law however is being followed to the letter, the government even shut down the sites that where selling e-cigs over internet for Mexico.

No, there are A LOT of websites selling it, even in Mercado Libre (our ebay) you can find them, the price is very high, but it is not true that the goverment have had a hard enforcement, they only seized a few units back on 2008 along with candy cigarettes and chocolate cigars.

Hey thanks, tho hes on the same position im reading this he posted on another post:

"i second that request, i live in Mexico and its also hard (expensive)to get attys here, it would rock to only buy batteries and juice to vape with my Chuck, something more elaborated would be VERY VERY appreciated, specially since i know nothing about electronics but i can take a guide to my friends and work something out..."

I might even help him up later with this once i have the basics setups, seems attys is whats holding back e-cigs the most.

It is not hard to get attys, you have to wait, but you can buy from Heaven Gifts.

I live in Houston, and love to vacation in Mexico. Is it illegal to use e-cigs in Mexico, or just to buy them? Is it illegal to take e-cigs into Mexico for personal use?

No, it is not illegal to use them, nor buy them or bring them for personal use, it is illegal to produce, sell or promote them.

Wow...I had plans to spend a few days on the Costa Maya in April. I guess that will have to change.

Don't worry, you can bring them.

This sucks! I have been to Mexico twice, and planned to go back, but if I can't vape there...I guess I will have to look for a different vacation spot :(

I truly hope you are able to find a way around this, good luck :)

You CAN vape here.

Hi Andromeadae,

Yes it blows but people has been reporting being able to pass tru customs with the ecigs, im prety sure once ur clear you can vap anywhere in Mexico, problem should be just customs and or trying to buy juice here which is forbidden to be sold (so everyone coming to Mexico make sure to bring extra juices).

Actually COFEPRIS banned them due to the resemble of a real tobacco product, so the juice is out of a ban.

I am Mexican btw and will be traveling there for business this summer. :(

Great, don't worry, you can vape as much as you want.

So if I do make another trip to Mexico, would it be better to disassemble my pv and put it in checked baggage, or to just carry it in purse or carry on? What about the juice? What would be the best way to travel with e-juice? Not just to Mexico, but anywhere really. I just started vaping and havent traveled anywhere yet, so this will be some great info to know.

Do not worry to much, the juice was never mentioned by COFEPRIS, actually I doubt that ANY enforcement is actually in place other than for bringing product to sell.

Not much can be done but I will contact the Mexican tourism agencys and let them know as long as I can't bring my pv into the country I will put off any vacation plans I have to go there.

Thanks, but the problem is not as big as pictured in this post, I have been vaping since August 2008, never had a problem with customs per se, NEVER.

Well Lithium put it VERY clear, and i agree with him, I didnt had any problems with customs or vaping in the street.

Now, about customs, before i bought my gear (sexy Radiohead Chuck+attys+batteries+juice+carts) i asked a friend i have that works at customs in some point of Sonora and she said they dont even know about e cigs, they dont have any kind of orders to take em away and up until i mentioned e cigs to her she didnt even knew what one was, so, it should be safe to pass your gear along, BUT! becareful, i THINK it should be safe AS LONG as your quantities are somewhat low and you say its for personal use.

The authorities dont give a crap if you use e cigs, they just want money and if they label you as a supplier theyll either take your stuff away or ask for a bribe (which nowday its a bit harder since there is new staff at the customs point), i dont reccomend a bribe btw.

About the juice, you should be able to order 2 30ml no flavor EXTRAHIGH mg bottles from International suppliers, should be ok, i havent been able to find Lorann suppliers in Sonora but there is a supplier in Nuevo Leon, so its very easy to make your own juices, USP VG should be available at any pharmacy (or at least it is at the one i go to which was the first and only i tried) and so is distilled water, i havent searched for PG but im not interested in it anyway, STILL you should be able to import it, that has NO BAN whatsoever, and as i said, neither Lorann flavorings, so, as far as juices go, we are good to go.

If you are importing any kind of gear ask your supplier to mark your package as "Gift" and try not to use UPS or that kind of courier services, if your package its kind of small and doesnt attracts attention AND if its labeled as gift it should pass customs in a breeze and you might not even pay special taxes, IF you use UPS or something like that you most definetiley will get taxed.

Several mexican vapers agree that HG deliver to Mexico, and in the case your package gets cought in customs you can notify them and they will resend it as soon as possible (i guess they have to verify the info and all that), so our situation is not as bad as it looks.

About building mods, im all for it, im just waiting for my first atty to bust so i cant take it to my friends that specialize in electronics to see what can be done, im currently saving all the info i can regarding atty reconstruction i wish i could see Carlos youtube video about constructing an atty but oh well.
If you can share any kind of info about it (specially with pics) i will be very glad and will thank you deeply.

I guess it all boils down to looks, im not sure, but perhaps you have a higher chance of passing a battery mod (dissasambled might be even better) than a 510 mini with analogs colors. In my opinion there shouldnt be e cigs that use analog colors, im all for the right each one of us has to choose yeah, but it might be healthier to stay as far away from analogs and their image as possible, even with juice names, that just gives more guns to the FDA and our govs, as silly and stupid as it may sound, its true, just MHO.

Good luck Juan, if you have any questions or need any help send me a PM

Dont worry seems like the passed law about banning ecigs is only for distribution and is not even been respected atm (i see companies are still distributing regardless for months now), guess thats how we roll here lol.

Use and liquid are both legal!! you can practically order a container of eliquid and customs will probably ask you if you need flavoring with that, so come and bring all your vaping stuff hehe.

Where can one get a copy of the actual mexican law as it pertains to e-cigs? I would like to have it along with being able to show all of my devices and supplies are for personal use. I have a wood box mod and Ego's.

iam not worried about the batteries or chargers as they could be used to power anything. i even have a led flashlight that screws into the battery connection so it really is a flashlight. The juice and atties are the concern.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is only ONE reason NOT to make a trip to Mexico right now. We have been going our entire lives, lived in West Texas growing and went often, then even more often after grown and married. NO MORE, not until many issues there are resolved, and vaping is the least of them.

Mexico has some beautiful areas, and not just the tourist spots, but off the beaten path areas we loved to visit, but it's just too risky now, I feel for the general population and their predicament, but the danger has reached into even the most heavily tourist areas now, and there are just too many lovely destinations elsewhere where the danger is less.
