I sent a letter to a pen pal who is in the Arlington County VA jail describing my new 510 with pictures.

The sherif's office sent it back to me as "inappropriate material."

They didn't provide more detail than that.

Just an FYI. If you write a letter to an inmate about e-cigs keep it short in case it doesn't go through. I spent quite some time writing this letter so I'm a little bummed.

I'm not sure surbitonPete. It could be tobacco in general, possible "drug" use, or just an unknown subject they don't feel good about.

Inmates don't have free speech. They gave that up when they became criminals.

Just an interesting twist.

Yes I guess they could see all kinds of potential 'dodgy' uses for e-cigs if they allowed them for prisoners.

Having been the guest at a local county lockup, I have no doubt that many of those inmates have the time and inclination to find a way to use them for something they shouldn't be. You would be amazed what can be done with t-shirts, toilet paper and toothpaste. Seriously. There was a dude in my pod that could "hack" the phone and call out to numbers (like cell phones) that he shouldn't be allowed to. And all he really did was time the flipping of the hang-up switch thing. And he would have people buy him stuff on the commissary for the privilege of calling a non-land-line. Time, patience, motive.
