Hello everyone, I am a new member and this is my first posting. I am concerned that within two weeks of joining, I recieved a phone call from a company that had my name and address etc... I have never gone online to inquire or anything else except to this forum. How did they get this information? Does this site recomend members to company's? They wanted to send me a trial kit for $4.95 with ONLY a $49.00 charge after that to cover a months supply of cartridges and the kit. I then asked them if they were going to charge my credit cad every month after that and the reply was no, but we do not want our customers to do without. So that just told me YES they will charge my card. What is your re3sponse to this? I am trying to explore what company's are safe and what e cig and all else that goes with is usa made. I cannot afford to go through trial and error. Too bad that after reviewing the forum and re3ading that people have finally found the right company's and they can't post on this site. I still don't know who is safe or not:confused:. They all will tell you they are the best site to go with. Well, thanks for reading. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Jan

My response would be, "You've called a number that is on the Do Not Call List, please take steps to make sure your company does not call this number again as I will be reporting this."

There is a whole section of reputable vendors toward the bottom of the list of sub forums.

First, figure out what you would like. Then check out the ECF vendors that have what you want. Then check out the review sub forums for reviews on those vendors and the products.

Always feel free to ask us folks around here any questions.

And, most importantly, welcome to ECF.

A trial kit for $4.95 is a SCAM, run away, do not use ANY "free" trials!!!

It would seem in your googling and searching for e-cigs, you clicked a site and entered personal info,
OR the site hacked the personal info from your PC.

The top page of ECF has a listing of registered suppliers, who frequent the forum also for customer service.
ECF does not restrict anyone from posting a negative review of any suppliers service or products.
Any supplier listed has withstood the wrath of ECF vapers.

Information on the "best" setup takes a little more information from you, how much do you smoke,
for how long, how do you smoke - one puff and burn in the ashtray or suck it all till the filter burns,
how strong of cigs, etc.....

And WELCOME TO ECF !!!!!!!

Behind you
Welcome!

Unfortunately you're likely the victim of some shopping history being used inappropriately but nothing related to ECF. The timing is coincidental but nothing ECF does or ECFers regularly experience.

As stated above definitely enroll in the DNC list because it's likely to get worse as more companies buy the data that says you're a likely smoker and should target you for such things. They get this data any number of ways but usually from smaller outfits that have gone under or sold their data. For example, it's common practice during the liquidation of businesses to throw out Privacy policy and sell customer lists and prior buying habits.

And enjoy your browsing of ECF suppliers, the Supplier Forums, the reviews... lots of good verified information to be had here. Cheers, -Magnus

Hello Spiderwoman, welcome to ECF.

It is just a coincidence that you got an E-smoke related call after joining the ECF. I have been a member almost a year and have never received any e-smoke related phone calls.

I do, on the other hand get a lot of E-smoke spam, but that may be from my early days of google research.

Click on the "Forum Suppliers" tab at the top of this page and go shopping. Check out as many as you can before deciding.

And by all means remember....there is no such thing as a free trial.

A couple of suggestions for the hardware: Cignot, Litecigusa, Liberty-Flights, (LF is probably the least expensive for starter kits)

For some pretty decent nic juice: Freedomsmokeusa, Backwoods Brew, Vapor Station, Madvapes.

I'll add my own 'Hello' and welcome to ECF and the widely semi-wicked world of vaping!

The suppliers listed on here are all 'tried and tested' in terms of value-for-money, product, service, shipping etc. As others said, public criticism of a supplier is not discouraged. I do believe I can confidently say that this forum does not sell personal data and, again, as others pointed out, it was a coincedence your recieving a sales call at the same time you joined.

Realistically, expect to pay about US$50 to begin with for a basic starter kit of good quality (like the Joye Ego) and a monthly cost of about $30-50 for juice and consumables - depending on your habits.

ECF is a great community of really helpful, friendly people and I hope you like it here!

Thank You for the info you provided me with. It's a start! There are soooooo many company's to choose from and so much forum reading. Very hard to remember a little of this and that from everyone. So my next question is are all these co. safe and reputable? How are they screened/ Again, Thanks to all that responded to my questions and thank you for the warm welcome. One other question, why won't my photo upload in my profile? Is it because I am a new member?

the best bet is to look around on the web and check pricing/shipping from different suppliers, then check to see if those suppliers are listed here
Suppliers Forums.
Sortable list with links
These Forums will allow you to read other members experiences with these vendors. It is not censored and i believe the vendor actually have to request to be included in the list which means that they are inviting feedback on their services.

I used Cignot.com for my first set of ego-t's and had very fast shipping and communication from them. I did not care for the ego-t but that was not the suppliers fault, they just did not work well for my situation. I have since ordered from about six different places that are all listed in the suppliers forum and have not had a single problem and great customer service from all of them.

It may take a little while to find out what e-cig system will work best for you and it may feel like you might never find that perfect set up but remember that most of the parts are interchangeable with at most needing an adaptor so even if a particular kit doesn't work out for you you can still use the batteries and chargers in your experimentation.

I still use the ego batteries sometimes even though i now own a silver bullet mod and primarily use the drip method. but when i am going out to dinner or to a party i grab the EGO batts and a couple of cartomizers and i am set for a few hours.

Also create either a spread sheet or text document to keep track of what you ordered and from where, keep track of if you liked it or hated it that way you can avoid ordering the same thing twice if you hated it or find out where you got it if you loved it. once you find your setup you will not need to update this as often but even trying new juice it gets really hard to keep track of what flavors you have tried and from where.

And remember if something doesn't seem right with a supplier or a kit just ask here before you sign up or order anything.

It takes 5 posts to be able to post in any part of ECF, and 15 posts, (plus time for the system to update) for avatars. This keeps the spammers to a minimum, posts are for the most part from us nicotine addicts that have found a better way.... :)

That spam call you got has nothing to do with this forum. I have never heard of anyone getting ecig spam or calls due to joining this forum. However, sometimes even browsing the web or your web searches are not particularly private. One time I looked for a doll wheelchair on Ebay then got email spam about real wheelchairs.

If you are looking for a fairly slim ecigarette then the two best choices are Joye 510 manual (see Cignot.com, or the much longer Joye 510 mega xl manual for 60% more charge and I saw some at FreedomSmokeUSA.com). Or KR808D-1 manual (standard size for the same charge as 510 mega xl) - see LiteCigUSA.net for inexpensive plain kits and Vapor4Life.com for fancier kits and colors and prefilled cartomizers.

Both need eliquid. Prefilled is only a small convenience - you will be adding juice to prefills or adding juice to blanks.

Manual battery recommended for both.

Differences

510 is a 3 piece (battery+atomizer+cartridge) but there are lots of blank cartomizers for using it as a 2-piece. Few decent prefilled cartomizers. Manuals are totally sealed on the threaded end so they are very safe from being damaged or destroyed by juice leaks. 510 also has tank atomizers and tanks. I like to use manual 510 w/ Boge cartomizers (standard resistance since slim ecigs cannot use low resistance attachments)

KR808D-1 is a 2-piece (battery+cartomizer) so there are more prefilled cartomizers for it. There are also blank cartomizers. To use as a 3-piece requires another model's atomizer (901 fits). true 3.7v so a bit hotter stronger hit than 510. The manual batteries still have a hole in the threaded end but are much harder to damage than auto batteries.

Some less popular models you could look at (less stuff available for them) DSE901, DSE801

if you are looking for long battery life or bigger hotter hits, then you would have to skip slim ecigs and go to the fatter ones like Ego and Riva 510 or with a mod (variety of non-slim shapes)

there's a company on the radio here that advertises free samples and a low introductory fee. I know this sounds great to some people because money's not free, so free stuff is nice. However in this particular business you're much better off spending $50 on a genuine Joyetech 510 mega kit or a kr-808d kit, than you are spending nothing and potentially getting screwed by a company that sells something "looking and tasting exactly like a regular cigarette."

That's why there's a sticky thread here on the new persons' forum that explains in greater detail NOT to buy freebies. It's just a bad idea, and backfires more often than not.

Welcome Spiderwoman. From reading here for awhile I'd say Dormouse is giving you some really useful info for starts. The 510 and the Kr808 seem to be some of the best models to start with. I've used the 510 for a year and a half and you can find a good starter kit for about the price of a carton of cigs (or less).

There are reputable suppliers on here just read the reviews. You're goin' about this the right way, doin' your research before puttin' in your cash. Too many of us have been "burned" by flighty e-cig sellers to pull punches on our reviews.

No ECF does NOT sell or give any member information out to any companies. Also thought I'd point out we dont have a lot of that information in the first place to give anyway.
I'm not sure where they got it, but I can promise it wasnt from us.

And NO do NOT purchase from that company, check out the suppliers forum, suppliers reviews, or just ask our members for recommendations.

Greetings from a fellow Ohioan.
I've been here a few months. I've never gotten an ecig spam email or a phone call.
The only time on the internet you should ever enter your real name, address phone # etc is when you are shopping online with a credit card.
This site thinks my real name is Cookie Bun. Of course it isn't.
I'm currently having a major malfunction with Yahoo as to how they learned my actual name without reading my emails or snooping while I was shopping online.

I'll second the 510 or Kr808 recommendation. Using a Kr808 myself and love it. :vapor:
