You'll need to replace the atomizers now and then, and you should always have a couple of backups on hand.

How often you will need to replace them depends on many factors including...
--Whether or not you clean them
--How you clean them if you do clean them
--How lucky you are

You should always have a backup battery as well, and maybe even a backup charger.

As for replacing cartridges, there is about a 90% chance you eventually start to refill them yourself.
So you probably will be buying blank cartridges and juice seperately before long.

No cartridges on a tank atty. The tank atty is designed only for tanks in the way it wicks.

Get a 510 atty, 510 cartridges, and a 510 drip tip. And buy the precut blue foam replacement stuffing for 510 at strictlyejuice.com. Cartridges sort of suck but drip tip and atty is great for testing juices.
(alternately you could use a fatter Ego atty and Ego cartridges and Ego drip tip but you would have to cut your own blue foam)

What most people prefer to cartridge + atty, at least for thin juices they like, are cartomizers aka cartos (screw on combined cart with internal atty, disposable). I can get a good week or two use out of a Boge carto if I use thin (20% or less VG) light clear juices (juices that leave little or no carto-clogging flavoring sediment). The most popular cartos on Ego are Boge 2.0 ohm (2.0 ohm is LR low resistance - uses battery charge faster and gives a hotter stronger hit). I use the Boge standard resistance cartos (2.8-3.2 ohm) because I move them between my Riva 510 (Ego clone) and my slim manual 510's and slim batteries should not use LR stuff. Boge are the most popular cartos and the standard resistance is good to learn on, even if you end up wanting LR.

How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. I sometimes use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel)

New to e-cigs, and planning to buy myself an eGo-T 1000mAh. Just wondering what maintenance I need to do to keep it running well? Do I need to keep replacing the cartridges & atomisers? Are there any other parts that need to be replaced regularly?

You could try the Go-Go. Its a 2pc but utilizes a 1300mah battery. The cartomizers hold 3mL's of juice and last about 3 days. No worries about attys or cartridges. All you need to worry about is keeping your batts charged and keeping extra carto's around. Oh and the batts are good for a full day or two of vaping. No replacing, no maintenance. Just pure vaping bliss.

Wow! Thanks for the tip! So cartomizers work out cheaper & more convenient than atomizers +cartridges?

If you're getting an eGo-T, it will undoubtedly come with several tanks. I don't know how many because when I bought mine, the guy at the store tossed a handful of extras in.

The main advantage I see to tanks is that I like to try a lot of different flavors. I can put a small amount, or fill a tank all the way and I can tell by looking at it just how full it is. Switching flavors is a fast as pulling one tank off and popping another in. I blow out the atty in between if the flavors won't mix well during the transition. If I want to put another flavor in a tank, I can rinse it out (it's just plastic) give it a quick dry with a paper towel and get on with it.

Tanks are dirt cheap. Atty's last pretty well usually, and aren't that expensive.

If you take out the tank you can put in a drip tube on the top of the atty and direct drip. No drip tip? You can 'tailpipe' the atty if you want. It doesn't get that hot.

Or - unscrew the atty and put on a cartomizer.

What I'm getting at is, throw an extra 20 bucks or so at an eGo-T order and have the versatility to explore and find out which method you prefer.

I also use a cartomizer on my eGo-T sometimes. It's nice too - but once I load it with a flavor - changing isn't nearly as easy as with a tank.

The Op was getting a gogo. The gogo doesn't have attys just 3ml cartomizers but they are built like a truck. They last me 3 weeks or so using 80/20. Then I take them apart, clean them and use them for another two weeks. Thick or sweet juices will require more frequent cleaning.
I made an atty out of a gocarto for dripping by just pulling the filler and dripping down the side of the carto. The link is here.

Good luck with your gogo. They are great products and my main vape.

Just to clarify. The OP was not getting a go-go. He was thinking of getting an e-go:

I then answered his post by suggesting he try the go-go.
