VG does provide less of a throat hit and it could be that which is causing the coughing. These things don't smoke like tobacco cigarettes either. Try taking long slow inhalations of it. Be sure to get the primer off the 510 atomizer with a few puffs that you don't inhale either, that stuff is really harsh and will send you coughing. Put a few drops on the atomizer and take some puffs without inhaling it like you were hotboxing a cigarette, that should get the atomizer tasting better.

Remember long, slow inhalations, learn to vape not smoke. Hope this helps. Try the VG based juice and the atomizer trick as well. The 510 is about the harshest model out there.

I agree with snarky:) Also if you don't feel you're getting the nic fix you need, get some higher nic for first thing in the morning and after meals and see how that goes:) I use 24-30mg in am and then 12-18mg for most of the day and 12mg at nite:) Please don't give up on e-cigs:rolleyes: You can combine them with your .... logs and over time can wean off the cigs:)

I had the same reaction when I got my ecig. I coughed EVERY time. My son couldn't believe it, after watching me smoke two packs of cigarettes forever. He tried it and didnt cough, and he doesn't smoke. It took me a few days of experimenting, but I no longer cough and I am enjoying it. I had two analogs today, which is great!

Try and figure out if you are using a different smoking style with the ecig, I was, I was sucking the vapor right into the back of my throat, but with an analog, I would first inhale the smoke into my mouth, then inhale. Good Luck and give it another chance!

Its a common complaint with just about any "new" e-cig, and is most times contributed to the "primer" they have on the atomizer from the factory.

Many (including myself), simply keep at it with first not inhaling the vapour for a while until the primer burns off..... others go thru different cleaning processes of the atomizer before use (sorry don't have any of the 100's of links where this is discussed).

As far as getting off the analogs, if you don't eliminate them 100% right off the bat, just remember to praise yourself for ANY reduction in the daily intake/use of analogs as you progress and become comfortable in vaping instead.

The cough once down the road once the primer is gone (should you still experience it) is normally with the first use of the day, and can be lessened by insuring to sip water or preferred juice to keep your throat moist.

It took me approx 1-2 weeks of consistent e-cig use to burn off that nasty harsh primer and actually "enjoy" vaping without going through different pre-cleaning processes.

You'll get there........ patience is the key !! Because unfortunately once your transition away from analogs, your in for a whole lot of changes like hacking up the tar coating built up in your lungs, bronchial tubes and throat, and experiencing withdrawls from all the other nasty chemicals you've been inhaling with analogs.

Others will/may pipe in here with atomizer cleaning solutions, but I don't condone chancing the other side of the coin of possible flooding or ruining them, nor of the use of chemicals for the purpose of lacking in some patience and common sense.

Best of luck, and hope things work out in your favour !!

Excellent point. That brings up another thing that needs to be addressed and that's atomizers. I am a firm advocate of treating these things like you would a car as far as maintenance is concerned. For what it's worth, I have a electronic engineering degree and 15 yrs in the semiconductor industry before retiring. I made my living working on bleeding edge technology and keeping it running above and beyond spec.

The point of that fascinating background information is to relate how on these 5 million dollar systems that I worked on a $25 "atomizer" can screw up the whole works. That's why parts that are used in a destructive fashion are called "consumables", you expect them to be consumed in the process of doing the job. So instead of having a $25 part screw up a line that could cost over a million dollars for each hour it's not running when it fails or from cranking out a bunch of useless chips because they are not being made right due to a bad "atomizer" they replace it before it screws it up or starts to effect performance.

The atomizers are the heart of the E-cigarette no matter if it's a 2 piece or a 3 piece unit, without the atomizer you just have a battery, and a little cup of nicotine juice. Lucky for the 3 piece crowd the atomizers are fairly cheap in the big scheme of things. You could replace it once a month when you order your juice for the month and still spend less than what you would on a carton of tobacco cigarettes. A fresh atomizer is like getting a new kit each month. It's cheap enough that cost is not really an effective argument against not changing them. As far as how often to change them that depends on the person and the number of kits they have and how they rotate between them. Every other month is a good starting point and adjust from there.
