I think that's the hardest part to get used to. I have never smoked cigars or pipes, so it is hard to get the hang of it. I highly recommend looking at the sticky "The Wonderful World of vaping" at the top of the new member's forum. About halfway down, there is a video that helped me a lot. Once you learn the technique, it is SO much more pleasant than smoking a cigarette that it makes quitting pretty easy. So don't give up!!!

It could be the primer fluid or you're drawing too hard. You need to make sure you are drawing slowly to let the atty heat the liquid. Especially if you inhale directly into your lungs - you could be inhaling unvaporized liquid!

Check out the link below for a guide on using your 510:

How long did you smoke analogs? Did they make you cough? These e-cigs are usually a lot less harsh on the throat than an analog. I have yet to have one make me cough. After 30+ years of analogs my lungs are happy to have anything in there besides cigarette smoke. Only time I ever had insane coughing spells was if I was sick. I guess you gotta take it slow and get used to it. Don't go back to cigarettes!

I wonder if the nic is too high for me no matter how slow I take a drag I cough terribly

Friend, you are not listening...

To show you my point, draw off your e-cig.. Not for 10 seconds, not for 5 seconds, not even for 1 second. Draw for 1/2 a second. Then inhale.. You WILL NOT cough.

Thats why you need to lighten up the draw, using the cigar puff method, or taking a smaller draw. Yeah you could go with less nic, by why? Control your intake with your technique..

but did you blow the atty out and drip some e-liquid, and blow that out too, it really sounds like primer fluid, and yes the mg strength could be too high. so what cart, what strength, what e-liquid, what is the e-liquid base, pg or vg???
my use of the 510 is still kind new as i only use it when i go out to the store, and i find i NEED to drip it more than the 901 or 801 because it is hotter runnig than those. maybe drip a drop at a time untill your just hearing a gruggling sound, giving a couple of test vapes on the way to getting a well fill atty, and seeing if have more e-liquid soften the hit, yes you will drown the atty, yes you can blow it out, yes it will waste e-liquid, but at a one drop at a time you might find a happy spot like i did. oh and diferent e-liquids will have a diferent happy spot at least with my experience. :)
of course the Alternative is you need to go see a doctor, ;) or :( as the case may be.
almost everyone here wants to help you, so how is it going Tesla89?
