I've seen plenty of ....-slapping in football and hockey, I think some basketball... plenty in baseball.

But I've yet to see nipple-twisting anywhere in sports. Much less Roger Federer and Nadal on center court. ;-)

You Americans. -Magnus

It's done, usually not on camera, but it's done. Granted, the frequency is a lot lower, but it exists. I've coached HS sports (Varsity and JV) for many years, done college scouting, camps for kids, been around plenty of professional athletes; it's there.

It doesn't have to be just sports, it's typically a male bonding ritual. Much like griefing or the like, it's a "check" for tolerance levels. It's done not only with humans, but all species in some forms. A dog, cat, lion, bear, etc will continually "pulse" or "check" their position or status with other males. Most of the time it's playful, sometimes, it can get a bit more intense. Without that "check", we would all be a happy, harmonious, carefree, vegetable eating, tree hugging, dirt worshipping commune of the human race. In short, we would be prey to all the other creatures that do those things. Well, maybe not all the other creatures... but enough of them that it would wipe out our race. It's part of the whole, "survival of the fittest", in a microcosm.

Ah, just kidding you. I don't have a favorite team. It never ceases to crack me up though that the ONLY thing most native Mainiacs like about Massachusetts is the Red Sox, as if they were a home state team. The endearing term for people who are from Mass. is well... not all that endearing.

(no offense C.B. or anyone else who comes from or lives there)

Do you live in Maine or Southern Massachusetts? I saw something last week on the History Channel about a group of people wanting to split the state... Of course, there are people like that in just about every state.

I keep getting sucked in with their over-the-top PR.... but every time I end up disappointed and short $$. I just removed them from my vendors folder and I'm throwing in the towel on them. -Magnus

Well they sucked me in this time. I hope I'm not disappointed. I resisted all the clearomizer and fluxomizer hype, but I was drawn in by the apparent simplicity of the sapphire. What the heck, I was thinking of getting a battery with a 510 thread anyway, so if they're all hype and no performance I've only wasted (another) 15 bucks.

Southern Maine. Not sure if there is a group here wanting to split the state, but it sure wouldn't surprise me. I'm guessing the line would be just north of Portland.
