I understand what you're saying, but I have to disagree.
We HAVE helped a number of people, and I'm sure more have been helped that nobody will ever even know about.
And then there are those that have PMed us for help, whose names we do not divulge.
They are afraid to speak up over there though, and that is the reason I am there, and will be staying there.
One of the "thorns in our side" even asked for help with an ecig for a friend recently.
And of course asked to keep it between us, which I will.
It seems almost all of us have forgotten what it was like before.
It is much better now, and it was very nearly calmed down completely until Electricman butted in.
Remember, almost all of those "hate" threads that are in the electronic cigarette subforum now were moved there from elsewhere.
Now that we have stopped contributing to the creation and dislocation of those threads, that should pretty much cease.
I feel confident it will calm down again, and eventually stay that way for the most part.
Anyway, that is my current position on the matter, and the principle I am operating under.
I've been wrong before though, and I've also been naive before.
The problem is it certainly appears that the point of diminishing returns was weeks and weeks ago. And now it's producing Bunny and Beth and resent on top of "help"...
You have to take that into consideration. I've repeatedly said it in this thread and it's been repeatedly ignored. Search Engine Optimizations (SEO) are no joke. Those Alexa reports said how people ended up where when it came to first searching, referenced sites, etc. You'd could post links directly to ECF's Switching sub-forum in a lot of resource pages, send them to About.com authors, post them in Google Groups about addiction and smoking, etc.
Think about the pages on pages of exhausted energy, bad will, bad moods, etc. built up here.
It's not about not being able to help at QSMB. It's that so many others that could be helped aren't being helped because resources have been poured into QSMB instead. A fairly small, weak, ignorant, and trivial outfit. -Magnus
I meant the thread, the fleeing users, and the general sense of "WTF?!" to observers. It's creating more risk-aversion than it would be if we let them spout off their lies on their own. It's a spectacle more than anything else.

Eraser is one of the proponents on the opposing side....Bunny, that started the (new and) confused thread on Q, is his wife.
It's the first website that comes up in Google when you search for "quit smoking forum".
That doesn't seem trivial to me.
If I ignored that stuff you posted before, it's only because I didn't understand any of it.

I think fred uses both sides, and enjoys the drama....He wouldve shut it down long ago due to drama if that was a motivation. I just think this is a bit deeper than that. Why would eraser be so against e cigs, when his wife has tried everything and failed. And no word on whether c/t is what she did after that thread, or just being silent, or secretive about it. Eraser shouldve been open armed about seeing if they would work, at least for his own wife. It just gives it a whole new level of questions.
I said the site was trivial, changing long-standing search results isn't. However, I wager we would've been done by now had we put the same effort into trying to get people into either a new forum that's more receptive or right into ECF's Switching sub-forum.
I'll ask the basics of what I asked before again:
- Where would you want those seeking "your" message to end up? A specific page or link to start them out.
- Where can we consolidate the most important tips and tricks on top of the regular CASAA material and anything "we've" supplemented with here?

I'm not asking you or Chief to quit posting want you want to say however you see fit to say it. I'm not trying to censor anyone here. I just happen to think level heads will prevail. Stooping to their level would likely only lead to banishment and that is a victory for them. You can't provide info if you can't post.
I spend most of time on ECF in this thread and have come to appreciate and like a lot of people here, but I think it's time for me to take a break. Both from this thread and this forum.
I wish the best to those who choose to persevere in this cause. I think it's great that so many want to help others with a "new" method to quit. It certainly has helped me.
Lets see what happens with that post....on debate. I am curious where she went, and how its going.
