Me too Randy. I wanted phonedude but that was taken.

Once I wanted my usual name and it was taken. I looked it up and the user hadn't ever posted in over 2 years. So I PM'd the admin and asked if I could have it and they gave it to me. Just sayin' it can't hurt to try! :)

Anyone feel like they can respond to this post? QuitSmokingMessageBoard.com • View topic - Electronic Cigarettes Questions and Answers

I just don't feel like I have all the ammunition needed to address this, although I have seen it addressed many times in this forum. We need Kristin to take care of this one.

Done. :D

Wait a minute!! I just saw your post in the intro thread over there. YOUR name is Kristin, to??? Awesome!

(Interesting that Brad seemed to need to call you out as "aka MustangSallie" there?? That was kind of odd.)

Hey Randy, just so you know. I didn't get any email about my first post going through. I just checked for it this morning and there it was. :)

Where do you get your supplies? I'm beginning to run low on the supplies I bought for my first DIY attempt, and will need to restock in a day or so. I didn't want to buy a lot initially in case it didn't work out, but it's been a 100% success for me. I'm vaping my 3rd new tobacco flavor today, and it's as good as the other 2.

I haven't tried mixing any tobacco flavors, but if anyone knows of an extract (or even pre-mix) that tastes like Camel Turkish Silver (or Gold), I would be willing to try it. Those are what I smoked before I started the RYO thing.

I buy my nic juice from whoever is having a good deal at the moment. I bought it first from VoidMist when they were having a 40% off special ($12 for 60mg/120mL - $0.10 per ml). I ordered some more nic juice during Gourmet Vapor's most recent 50% sale ($21.48 for 48mg/250mL - $0.09 per mL).

I was spending about $1 a day on RYO tobacco and tubes, so the juice is significantly cheaper. However, having to replace attys, cartos and batteries the cost of vaping vs smoking (for me) is about the same. Vaping may actually be a bit more expensive. It certainly is up front. I'm going to build myself a non-battery mod from a 5v 3a power supply for when I'm at home so I don't have to worry about batteries except when I'm out and about. I just need to find something to put it in. I want something cylindrical and "classy" looking, so highlighters and m&m tubes are out! :)

How much do you DIY guys think you're spending on juice? Let's say a 30mg bottle, if you can break your costs down to that.

Hmmm, let's see... I spent about $36 for my initial consumable supplies, that includes PG, VG, 48 mg unflavored liquid, and flavorings. So far I've made up 150ml of juice. I probably have enough left for at least 60ml more. That's about $5 per 30ml.

I didn't shop around the the best prices, but I think I can shave a bit more off that when I do.

I also recently switched to CE2-X Clearomizers, aka Fluxomizers at GotVapes. They've had some growing pains, but the most recent production run (Royal Smokers is the manufacturer) seems to have cleared up most of the remaining issues.

The only trouble I've had is with cracking leaking tubes. The most recent ones I got use a thicker tube that so far is holding up well. Other than that, the dang things won't die. I have some that are 2 months old and are still going strong. There are also metal versions that don't have the leaking issues.

That has drastically reduced my spending from the standard cartos I was using before, plus they perform more consistly.

Use them both on my 808 hardware and an Ego-T battery. I had to trim the Ego cone a bit to get it to fit, but otherwise it works great. I use a lower ohm on the Ego, but the difference is marginal.

I have looked and looked at those and just couldn't decide. I have just been using the Boge lr and reg cartomizers. I have had good luck with them and knew what I was getting. Maybe next month I will give those a try. I sure like the look of them.

John,

I just checked out essentialwholesale.com to check out their PG, but can't find where it says it is USP food grade. Does it say that is USP on the bottle? The pics are too small to read.

On the bottle it says, " Kosher, FCC, USP" Somewhere else on the website perhaps the faq it says all their stuff is USP .

On this page from QuitSmoking.com ( same owners as the QSMB forum) : Read the Methods for Successfully Quitting Smoking , you can Add your Own quit smoking method. E-cigs are not there yet.. anyone wanna tackle this? :)
What do you guys think about this?

My method to successfully quit smoking is the electronic cigarette.

I firmly believe that it is the best method in existence. It is beyond question the most successful method, and there is much research underway as we speak that will clearly show that. In fact, millions of people worldwide have quit using this method, and it is not uncommon for people who have used them to suggest that their inventor, Hon Lik, deserves a Nobel Prize. Many people who have tried to quit dozens of times using many of the other methods mentioned here, only to eventually relapse to smoking again, feel that electronic cigarettes are truly a miracle.

If anyone tells you that electronic cigarettes are dangerous, or that we don’t know what is in them, or that the FDA said they contain toxins, carcinogens, or anti-freeze, please read the following:

http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/centers-institutes/population-development/files/article.jphp.pdf

Now that we have dispensed with that bit of nonsense…

How to quit smoking using an electronic cigarette

The first step is to buy a good product for a good price. That means to avoid almost everything that is widely advertised or comes up in a Google search. Such products are marketed by companies who often sell poor performing products at outrageous prices. It is also very unlikely to find a quality product at a reasonable price in a mall, at a liquor store, or in a tobacco shop. Far too many people were introduced to the electronic cigarette through one of the outlets mentioned above, only to come to the conclusion that the products do not work very well, and will not work for them.

For the lucky ones that see the potential, and decide to do some research in order to find out if there is a better product, it does not take long to find out that there most certainly is. In fact, there is an entire world of better products that most people have no idea exists.

Now for the most important thing I can say to anyone reading this…

It is essential that anyone using an electronic cigarette find a good, independent electronic cigarette forum for guidance on finding a quality product at a reasonable price.

Not only will you need a good product, at a reasonable price, but you will need to find out the kind of electronic cigarette you need for your particular situation. And you will need to learn how to properly use an electronic cigarette, because there is a bit of a learning curve. The only way to do these things is to interact with those who have come before you and have experience. And unless you know someone who has successfully used an electronic cigarette to quit smoking, your ONLY option for finding such help is an electronic cigarette forum. And as a bonus, there are some excellent electronic cigarette forums that are full of wonderful, helpful people who also serve as a fantastic support group. And a support group can be helpful too, although quitting smoking using electronic cigarettes can be so easy that you may not need any support at all.

As for HOW you quit smoking using an electronic cigarette, I can not tell you that. And really, that is part of the wonder of electronic cigarettes. They let you quit smoking your way, on your own timeframe, in a way that is most comfortable for you.

If you think about it, you may want to add " for those who cannot quit with other methods" to "I firmly believe that it is the best method in existence." but only if your worried about those who might jump your case. otherwise, Go for it.

Honestly I think that sounds more like you're just singing the praises of the method... (I'm just critqueing don't hurt me...lol). I'm not sure how to get around pushing them towards another forum to find out what models are good but I think it should at least touch on stepping down nicotine levels give some sort of a guideline...just my take on it. If you put that up its almost sure to be flamed I think.

I expect anything put up about electronic cigarettes to get flamed.

I'm thinking about it.... I'm trying to decide whether to make a thread on misconceptions about electronic cigarettes or put it in the Drs section what do you think Johnn?

The problem is, I honestly believe this...

As for HOW you quit smoking using an electronic cigarette, I can not tell you that. And really, that is part of the wonder of electronic cigarettes. They let you quit smoking your way, on your own timeframe, in a way that is most comfortable for you.

If they don't like what I had to say, I'm sure they won't bother posting it.
And then someone else can give it a shot.
:)

I will wait for more people to give feedback or additional ideas before I submit anything.
And anyone else is certainly encouraged to put together their own version.

Perhaps we can even vote on one.
