I tend to think it's his age. This is a man who didn't grow up watching feminine products being openly advertised on T.V. and NEVER would men and women be having a conversation about them AND/OR menopause.

I think it depends on how they are raised. My late husband was 5 years older than I, just a really nice guy and was closer to his mom (dad was abusive.) He was so laid back almost nothing phazed him!

My hubby now is much younger, so maybe your theory applies to him, since he is close to his dad (who had custody) and has 3 brothers & one younger sister - completely different than my late husband.

I was really lucky to have found two really great guys in one lifetime - a lot of people never get to experience being loved like that even once. I've been truly blessed in that sense! :)

Wait? I had an option? I've been buying tampons and pads, cardboard applicators, super, regular, unbleached, unscented, this cup device, etc. etc. for years for girlfriends and then the wife/tbex.

I've been had!!! Conspiracy!

I don't see the big deal though. -Magnus

Right there with ya. Never saw it as a problem, as one of the ladies pointed out it's not like the clerk thinks you're using them.

On another note, I see what I missed, back to catching up.

My husband is 13 years older than I am. He's 58, very laid back, (was) close to his mother and very secure in most everything except buying anything feminine product related.

Yes, you have been very fortunate. :)

I am on Indian land
Well 2 yrs ago when I signed up on the Q board it was for ideas on how to quit smoking plain & simple. You had choices & most didn't work for me but then again I wasn't real thrilled with quitting so nothing would work at that point, with that kind of loser attitude you won't quit. But in time I realized my drs. weren't going to make quitting easy or fun so I took wellburtrin & sucked it up & quit.

What happened to you was a terrible injustice, and I am truly and sincerely sorry that it did happen.

There is absolutely no excuse for anyone who is a vendor of medical services failing to tell someone who must stop smoking cigarettes immediately about every single option that is available to them. I don't care what a bunch of old farts want to call it. In my opinion, that's criminal negligence.

Thank goodness you were able to stop smoking tobacco cigarettes. Not everybody would be so lucky, though.

Before e-cigarettes existed, those people just had to die. Now they don't.

In my opinion, or no. I think we can elevate this to belief level, so according to my beliefs, every one of those people deserved to stay alive.

No matter how much somebody enjoys smoking, no matter what their beliefs are, how much they might disagree with me (and therefore be wrong) on any number of topics, they deserve to get any and everything that can help them have some more time with their loved ones, and their loved ones with them.

Even people who are old and sick and have already lived our lives and on the way out anyway, I believe we also deserve that.

I get that other people may have different beliefs about all that, and I can respect those beliefs even as I actively demonstrate my own by rooting for the Good Deed Posse and banging out a disjointed, rambling little blog of tips and tricks for raggedy and decrepit old relicts like myself who like to smoke, and are upgrading to e-cigarettes so we can enjoy it even more - and possibly for a longer time.

Which brings me to my point.

I think sometimes you and I may share something. I wish - a lot - that e-cigarettes had been around when I was young. Even when I was no longer young but not yet old.

I would loved to have had that option, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't resentful and bitter and jealous because I didn't.

But waaay more than that, I'm so thankful and glad for all the people who DO have it - all the people who are 12 today, and 22 and 52 and whatever, that they will never have to find themselves unable to breathe when they have a cold, and in a way worse and more horrifying way than we usually mean when we say that.

Just because I wish I could have something, doesn't mean I'm not glad someone else does, or wish that they didn't!

In fact, and I'm getting in trouble here, but I remember when I was a little girl, hearing that it was bad to feel envy, and I asked a holy man about it, and he told me that there's nothing wrong with wishing you had something someone else has, as long as you are wishing you had one like it, wishing you had one TOO, it's only wrong if you wish the other person didn't have it.

The idea of wishing the other person didn't have it made no sense to me then, nor does it now.

Why would anybody ever wish something like that?

Anyway, this has also been sitting in the pile, so I might as well dump it out, too:

Someone remind me why we would negotiate with a bunch of people that have been and continue to clearly break every rule that was set out by fred from the beginning, as if they have power to change those rules, when in fact, Fred shouldve simply disciplined them long ago?

Orly, that lady's mom, the other one's dying old auntie...If there were no Good Deed Posse, according to MY beliefs, somebody from there should have marched themselves over here and asked the PIF department to send one to the dear auntie.

There was a Good Deed Posse, though, and not one of them even said, hey go ask one of those Posse people to help you get auntie one of those electric ones so she can be kept a little bit more comfortable as she spends her remaining days with her loved ones.

If I recall correctly, it was the Posse people who were finally obliged to ask...

What bites is that they knew about E cigs but as a dr. who just saved a person's life why not jump on the quit or else-perfect timing huh-even down the road when I was struggling with quitting the drs. weren't helpful. sure everyone here has been told to quit but its stupid that to line their pockets they'll suggest cold turkey or nrt's but not say sh** about your E cig-I really believe its like what you say-no money for them by people switching so why give people an out-stupid waste of lives.

Well does this mean we're not friends anymore???? Well since I'm such a lowlife loser both boards much be desparate for hits that I don't get banned or whatever.

Don't flatter yourself. ECF was doing fine long before you or I joined and it will continue to do so.

I'm sorry to have offended you or brought up a bad memory. I tend to think I'm a philogynist with an irreverent tone however the joke was in bad taste especially given the sensitivity of the topic as it pertains to your given prior posts. -Magnus

Apology accepted. I know it's hard to tell what will offend women these days. I'm generally lighthearted about sexist jokes that poke fun at known stereotypes - I can laugh at myself and know we women do things that seem silly and capricious to men & vice versa. But that one always just seemed plain mean-spirited and nasty about something that women cannot control and something men do not have to suffer through (or anything comparable) ever in their life. It also reminds me that it wasn't long enough ago that women were still treated as "dirty" and "inferior" and were ostracized during their time of the month. I guess it just invokes really bad images for me of how women have been treated in the past and still are in other parts of the world. I'm sure other women would just chuckle and not give it another thought! So, it's probably just me.

I suffer a lot of pain, emotional swings that drive me crazy (it's not like we enjoy being controlled by our horomones) and not to mention the inconvenience every month. It's not fun and I don't play the sympathy card or use it as an excuse - I suck it up and deal. So, for someone who has never had to endure it even once in his life to not only poke fun at it but to say it in such a degrading manner is a huge slap in the face (I refer to my ex here - not you!!) It's like making fun of someone going through cancer treatment by saying "I don't trust anything that can take in that much poison and still be alive." I hope that kind of explains why I was a killjoy about that one.

We have a 13 year age gap, as well, except in the other direction - my husband is 13 years younger than I.

Yeah - it's hard to tell what the reason is - men are just as hard to figure out when it comes to homophobia, too. They'll slap each other on the .... and twist each other's nipples, but god forbid an out gay man should stand too close, lol! Never a problem for the men in my life, but other guys just get completely weirded out. I can't make rhyme nor reason out of it! LOL!

Nate, MadMac, Phone, BigC, Halsey, Hobo, John, SC, and anybody I missed,

I don't care if you're straight, gay, bi, transexual, a Perl bot, a Alien visitor, or a Yankees fan,

If you EVER slap my .... or twist my nipples I WILL toss you down a flight of stairs, pull you back up by your nostrils, and toss you down again. Twice.

Whatever this ritual Kristin is talking of, I want no part of. -Magnus
