My brother has a kid with an ex girlfriend and she is a nightmare. She called my brother - who tried to do the right thing and be involved - "nothing but a sperm donor" and refused to let him see his daughter. Then she did everything she could to turn my neice against him. My parents and I tried to keep contact (the ex was better with us) but my neice turned into a copy of her mother and pretty much disowned us. Now, THAT is a nightmare ex!

Parents who bring their differences to their children are of the worst kind. My daughter thinks her mom is a superhero and I intend to keep it that way until she is old enough to understand enough to make her own judgement calls. -Magnus

Ceridwen is such a pretty and unique name. How did you come to choose it? Does it mean anything?

It's an old Welsh/Celtic name that evolved into Guinevere and eventually Jennifer. So Ceridwen is named after her mother Jennifer. -Magnus

EDIT: Ceriddwen/Ceridwyn/Kerydwyn is also a Celtic goddess of poetry and depending on which lore, wisdom.

Ask yourself Nate, and think about this...

Do you really want a child raised in the Magnus Eunson School of Evil Genius? I'm not sure the world needs that. ;-)

I would much rather a child be taken care of by a loving father than to see her raised by a neglectful and aloof mother.

The "evil" bit is debatable... ;)

She'll do fine and maybe when she grows up and her sink leaks she'll be able to handle it herself rather than depend on someone else.

I thought it would make her laugh if I fixed a leaky shower head neck w/ a big gob of Big League chew. Within a day half the "broken" things in the house, as she deemed them, were smacking covered with chewed up food, candy, etc.

*sigh* I am slowly learning the lessons. -Magnus

That is the way we are with my DSD. She's not happy she had to move away from her friends and all we say is, "Please trust us. Some day you will understand. You're such a geat kid that you'll make tons of friends here!" Her mother has serious issues that I won't get into. Who knows what her mother is telling her about us. Probably that we are mean people who are trying to steal her away from her mom.

Wait... You mean you can't fix leaking pipes with bubblegum?

Aha, I knew it looked familiar. I used to research Celtic names quite a bit to name my characters in Online MMORPGs.

Very lovely name!

Very cool. My kids all have Irish-based names: Coren Patrick, Brennan Michael & Kierney Skye. The Skye is a nod to my husband's Native American ancestry, a play on "sky." We were going to use the Cherokee spelling, but it would have been about 28 letters long (exaggerating) and impossible for teachers to pronounce! LOL!

Spawn a child. You have no idea what you're doing until it's been done anyway. No sense trying to predict it now. Now get to spawning! -Magnus

Do you have any stepkids?

My husband is going to be a young grandfather - my eldest son is only 10 years younger than him! (But not for another 5 or 10 years - I'M too young to be a granny!!)

Old Operating System designers had a wicked sense of humor. Processes spawned child processes. And then you'd have to "kill" them if they got out of hand. UN*X perfected the nomenclature to a point that I have to wonder if anybody in Bell Labs should've ever had kids. -Magnus

You like 'em young! ;)

My grandparents already have two great-great grandchildren. 8-o

They're old though, so it's OK...
