bri thats what i think. this is perfect negative marketing at work. using words like "dorky" whoops ecgis just lost another potential 2000 customers.

why the hell are these news broadcasters getting ecig packages from crappy ecig companies. why not go to a market leader in the industry like janty or njoy?

That was from a news station in Elmira, NY. Their population is around 30,000. I would bet 2000 people saw that report, if that. Now, I know that if I saw that report on the news I would instantly want to know more about electronic cigarettes, regardless of what that "report" said.

I personally first heard about them from my barber, who said that he heard Jose Canseco promoting SE on Howard Stern. I don't think you can get a much poorer first impression of ecigs than that! But you go online, you find this place, and voila! I bet somebody who saw this news report signs up here soon.:)

And there it is... "social acceptance"

Who really cares? I don't understand why people are soooo hung up on what everyone else is doing with their lives. We've gone ahead and taken care of the only logical complaint of non-smokers by eliminating the big bad evil "2nd hand" smoke. Now they want to complain about the E-Cig? Seriously?

Some people get their panties in a bunch over anything these days. The media's coverage on E-Cigs is suspect at best. I wonder what "medication" she's using. Hopefully not chantix.
I wanted to punch my computer screen when that stupid, stupid woman said that. One of the things I have been enjoying most is no longer being ostracized from society having to huddle outside like a second class citizen.

hmmm..interesting news piece...

y'know guys... Paula is simply a ....... it's easy to peg..

if you read into it.. Paula is the kind of smoker that uses cigarettes as her "dirty little secret". most likely started smoking because "it was a cool thing to do around her smoking friends", and now that smokers have become pariah... she needs to quit to become more "socially acceptable".

people of her ilk will always make the rest of us look bad.. be it as her being a smoker or a quitter... she's not REALLY a part of our group in the first place, and is just moving from one thing to the other simply "to fit in".

we might as well get used to it.. the media is gonna latch on to lackeys like this to make thier stories seem more entertaining.. we can't be the boogeyman if there are no believers out there.

There's a Part One to this that I also viewed (Special_Reports). Taken together, they make a lot of points, although not the main ones we'd all like to get across.

The hard part for many here to accept is that their "smoker" rejected e-cigs. But I think many smokers try and reject e-cigs. These are NOT cigs, and some smokers cannot adapt to a new device that doesn't draw like a cig and taste like a cig. No one has yet measured our "success" rate. It certainly won't be 100%. There's always a "Paula".

What rankles me most, though, is the notion that any acceptable alternative to tobacco cigarettes must involve quitting. Did you hear that over and over? The e-cig won't help you quit! So? Lots of smokers don't want to quit; they want a healthier way to obtain a drug they enjoy or find beneficial in their everyday life. What's wrong with that? Nothing. But the anti's will likely never come around to approving a lifetime addiction to recreational nicotine use.

Even when the alternative -- for some like this smoker, Paula -- is returning to tobacco cigarettes and the litany of health problems those are known to cause.

When you're right, you're right. We shouldn't expect 100% of people to switch to PVs or use them to quit entirely. Even if we consider PVs as a way to give up nicotine (not a given and not necessarily a desirable categorisation) there will be people who simply don't like them.

On the other hand, if people do want to investigate whether PVs are a way to give up nicotine the bar to be more effective than other NRTs is pretty low. What is it, about a 10% success rate for current NRTs?

This is an awesome point that I have to highlight. You nailed it.

This has to be talked about more, since it seems ecigs are being pegged as a 'wannabe, unapproved' quit device by the media, when there really is so much more to it then that.

What I find amusing (I can't watch the video footage for some reason) anyhoo... if she thinks its DORKY - then she must think smoking a real cigarette is COOL, nothing will help her quit with that attitude.

True. Smoking an analog is what isn't cool, so it's the other way around.

We just need more people to understand this. It will come with time, and hard work, thanks in large part to this forum.

LMAO she couldn't even smoke an old school cig the right way. She was probably was smoking a dry cart also, which is why she got zero vapor. This is the poster child for a weekend rookie smoker. I have nothing against her, and she is prlly a nice person, but if you are gonna do something go all the way I say. I don't buy toilet paper without going to a forum and finding the best damn toilet paper there is. jk jk /duck

IMO, analogs are similar to un-protected sex. Personally, I enjoy smoking. If I can do it in a manner that reduces my risk exponentially, Yee-Haw!! JMO
