This is going to be reality unless every person who reads this takes ACTION. The Boston Public Health Commission wants to BAN vendors from sending orders to Boston residents, and ban vaping indoors where ever smoking is banned. This is going to happen unless EVERYONE steps up. Send letters, make phone calls, send faxes, and if you can, show up at the hearing tomorrow, Tuesday October 4th at 6:00 pm.

I'm not too sure how much of a help non-residents of Boston can be. Honestly though, if they want to ban it like cigarettes, then so be it. We've all been used to these things for years, and lets face it. How many people have gotten tickets for smoking too close to a building? We can handle the same cigarette bans with our e-cigs.

What I don't like is the ban on shipment. That's going overboard. If you're allowed to posses it, your allowed to use it, but you can't buy one or have it shipped, then what's the alternative? Making everything yourself from the juices raw materials to the equipment from a hardware store and radioshack? How can they stop something from being mailed to you anyway? They don't know what's in a package unless they open it.

Ecigs will always be a controversial subject as long as there's no public information produced by a trusted public source that shows the greatly decreased risk compared to tobacco. The FDA could decrease the incidence of cancer caused by tobacco if they would deeply investigate Ecigs and produce unbiased test results.

It's just my opinion, but I don't see the hazards associated with ecigs, especially when you consider the hazards of tobacco. Still, the FDA insists on publishing news clips that talk about antifreeze and findings of nitrosamines in ecigs. We all know that DEG was a fluke in one batch of one brand. Requiring that all ecigs use USP grade components would eliminate that risk.

We all know that taxes from big tobacco contribute to the lack of public information by trusted sources. The government doesn't want to kill BT because they get billlions each year that are supposed to be used for anti-smoking ads pointed at children and teenagers. How many of those have you seen lately? Not many? I suppose the funds are being diverted to other uses. Still, we are faced with a new tax on ecigs with no positive reviews by the FDA. If it's deadly, as they say, then point it out and ban it. Tobacco IS deadly and is still allowed to be sold.

What we need is for Fox, CNN, and other news outlets to be able to do some in depth coverage on what an ecig is, how it works, why it is better than tobacco, and what it contains and what it doesn't. Until there are medically backed tests to quote, they won't do that. After all, no one wants to be the one who said something was safe, only to have it rebuked later.

Until then, we will have to put up with "Don't those things have antifreeze in them?"

I'll email them as soon as I get home. I'm not from the area, but will be sure NOT to do any travelling to the area, or spend any of my money to Boston businesses if the ban is in effect.

Me too, carpedebass. There's just no reasoning with idiots, there's just avoiding them.

I would think that they first should answer what makes the e-cig so dangerous, are they going to ban pg in all the medical buildings? vg in all the food served throughout the city, flavors from all food? Batteries from all the Ipads? Brake it down till you reach somthing real that should be banned, if they cann't, then nothing should be banned. They shouldn't be able to stop the US mail unless the whole US is banned, same for ups and fedex.

Done. Basically told them I would not be ordering anything online from Boston merchants nor would I do business with any Boston merchants or visit Boston for any reason if this ban is enacted. I hate to hurt any business that is not affected by the ban, but this is war. I like to live by the mantra, "If you have prepared for a fair fight, you have under-prepared."
