Big tobacco Beware, the Next Big Story Stock Could Involve E-Cigarettes by: Andrew Mickey April 12, 2009 |
It’s not too often a product comes along with so much potential. A product with so much pent up demand. A product that is significantly cheaper than alternatives. A product that sells so extremely well right out of the gate the potential to turn a very small speculation into a big score is obvious.

That’s what we’re facing here. The market potential is hundreds of billions. Every retailer who carries it has trouble keeping it in stock. It’s the same type of popularity which turned Crocs (CROX) into a shooting star, made Healys (HLYS), and pushed sales of Snuggies past the four million mark.

Sounds like it has some potential right?

Well, it does have a lot of potential. That is of course, if the World Health Organization (WHO), the FDA, Big Pharma, Big tobacco, and a U.S. Senator don’t get it completely outlawed.

Sherid:
Thanks for the article!
"In the end, this is the perfect situation of how a new technology could revolutionize an entire industry."
My thoughts exactly, when I first heard about e-cigs.
I am very interested in investing in e-cigarettes in one form or another. Sure stocks are an option, but why invest in such a way that leaves you vulnerable of external factors. Why not start a small business based on the new industry? I've been thinking about this for about a month; however, I will not pull the trigger just yet. Got to wait and see how the glorious government regulates.

What really surprises me about all this is that Big Tobacco hasn't jumped all over this product. I mean here's an industry that is litterally dying, We know they've been trying to dream up a "safe" cigarette for decades.

Yet when this device finally comes along instead of them going to Ruyan and saying hey sell us your IP and we'll cut you into our big arsed market and make you all billionaires they join forces with Big Pharma to stomp it out.

Seriously if I had been the the CEO of Phillip Morris I'd have hoped on a ****ing Lear Jet to Bejing the second I heard about these things to buy Ruyan out. I'd have my bought and paid for politicians preasuring the ATF to take jurisdiction and set my Lawyers on the FDA to tell them to shut their pie holes.

I mean I can understand why Big Pharma would resist this stuff but Big Tobacco hell I'd look at the e-cigarette as proof that God is a smoker (I say this as a militant athiest).

I also think it would be agreat move for the Tobacco Companies. I recently posted this in another thread somewhere:

The article (Alternative Nicotine Delivery as a Harm-Reduction Strategy - Non-Smokers' Rights Association) posted by Tropical Bob dates from the years '95-'97 and regulations might have changed but this interesting statement is found in the 5.th to last paragraph ... (bold emphasis is mine):
"... Whereas tobacco companies can market new or changed nicotine delivery products with minimal constraints, pharmaceutical companies can only market their nicotine products after years of evaluation, necessary approvals, and with prescribed limits on the marketing of the products. ..."
If this (in bold) is still true, then maybe the quickest path to legal access to eCigs is to actively lobby and persuade some tobacco company to be first out of the gate with unconstrained Alternative Nicotine Delivery in the form of eCigs. What's the FDA or Health Canada going to say to this tobacco company when they are already selling the obviously much more dangerous analogs cigs ?

They don't need to. They will lobby in Washington using their power and simply have the band. That will give them the more time they need for now. We can't forget that they practically "own" Washington.

I was thinking about starting to sell them here, in the U.S.

But with the delivery problems caused by the FDA, and now NJoy is being sold (very expensive) all over the place.. This is just another example of a rigged game being played out.

A better solution is to just abolish money all together. No one need "invest", we'll just produce the best ecigs we can design, and anyone that wants nicotine can have one delivered free, to their door. You only need one, maybe 2, and one or two batts.. If we started really working on the technology instead of burying stuff to keep profits up, I bet we'd have ecigs with battery charge life of several days and atomizers that last 2 or 3 years (probably ultrasonic as well).

The Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement ... Just think, we could start the future today and no one would ever have to "buy" anything again.

I started becoming interested in investing in e-cigarettes a few weeks ago shortly after my joye 5-10 arrived and i discovered what a great experience e-cigs offer. For anyone looking for stock investing options.
Miller Diversified Corp. MILR.PK (no relation to the beer company) recently purchased Smoke Anywhere USA
Miller Diversified trades on the pink sheets, and as of today is trading at .28/ a share.
Represents a pretty affordable way to get in on this great new technology.
