Even without shopping around or discounting, a new Ego battery, atty and 30ml of juice will set me back £40, give or take. I used to spend that on analogues in a week.

In practical savings, I'm realising over £100 a month. Or the in-my-pocket equivalent of a £2000p.a. pay rise.

Looking at my sig block, I've saved £93 in 32 days. And that includes the cost of my Ego.

I put everything in an excel spread sheet. If I estimate $45/carton of regular cigs I've saved 40%. AND I have about 6 months worth of supplies- batteries, cartos, juice, chargers. I'm letting myself spend about $40/month anyway.

The difference may be that I got lucky on my first ecig. I'm happy with a kr8 and cartos- so I didn't need to buy lots of models or mods.

Have I really saved much? Prolly not because I can't stop buying stuff I don't even need. I gotta try everything once and ecigs is no different. Bad habit.

Do I care? NOPE.

I noticed the health difference going from smoking 2+ packs a day to vaping in less than a weeks time. I wake up feeling better. I have more energy. And Big Tobacco is no longer snagging my money to help me kill myself.

Money isn't everything when it comes to your health. I'd rather be broke and live to be 80 than have a boat load of cash and die young. These "Is it worth it pricewise" threads are funny to me. Its well worth it, even if it costs more in the end, to watch your kids grow up and see them have kids. Well worth the extra time you might be able to spend with your spouse. Big deal. Your broke this week. YOUR ALIVE!!!!

I have kept exact figures on how much I would have spent on cigarettes and how much I spent on vaping. To date I am ahead $1680.78

This includes wasting money on various brand of PV’s and juices that I bought and gave away after I found something I liked better.

I now have two SB’s, about 2 litters of high quality juice, and about 300 blank cartomizers. This should last me a few years; so in reality I will be ahead thousands more.

Not to mention, I feel much better.

It really is an individual thing. I'm like CES, I got lucky and found the model I like right away and after minimal experimenting found the flavors I like as well. I currently have three different KR8's (autos) and received one KR808d-1 manual as a freebie with an order (that was sweet - and I like playing with it from time to time). I started vaping in January 2010 and the first four KR8 batts I purchased, I still have and still use. One additonal V4L batt I purchased I put through the wash-casualty and one other CigEasy KR808d-1 just eventually died out. I also purchased, from an ECF member (Thanks!) three V4L kr808's that work great. So, I currently have ten batts-all work fine and two USB and wall chargers. My total cost for equip has been ~ $ 280.00. When I smoked traditional cigarettes I smoked two packs a day, five cartons a week at $44.00 per carton - that's $220.00 per month. I now spend $ 58.00 per month on cartos. 220-58 = $ 162.00 saved per month X six months is $ 972.00 - $ 280.00 is $ 692.00 saved in 6 months, not to mention all the other benefits people have posted. Hopefully from here on out my savings should remain about $162.00 per month minus any hardware I may need down the road.

I just did the math and for the 6 months, that I have been vaping, I have spent $1680 on gear and juices. For that same time period, I would have spent $882 on burning butts. However, I have now accumulated enough gear and juices to last to the end of the year. It's a wash. So for me, it looks like I only come out ahead because I am healthier and ....that is our true wealth.

Hmmm, as for cost. here the government slaps an extra tax on cigs every 5 minutes. It was costing me $120USD a week in cigs!

Ok, so I haven't been vaping long. I have spent a lot, but I have built up a nice collection, & have a nice long list of my favourite flavours to reorder in the future.

Using my KR8 set-up, I have calculated an ongoing weekly cost of $13. Juice costs may increase after just getting my first HV mod, but it's still a HUGE saving for me. And the improvements in my health? - Priceless.

Smoking cost me from $120-$150 a month. Vaping cost me about $30-$70 a month. So i cut my cost in half plus I have a good stock of ejuice rite now so if i dont buy new juice to try out, i should be set and not need to spend a penny next month.

So yea....its cheaper for me...lol

Smoking for me was about 90$ a week, sometimes more if it was especially stressful.

I use a 5v mod unit with rechargable batts, which I have had for.. a few months now without replacing them, so no cost there.. I havent bought new cartomizers since February (KR808D-1s) no costs for me there..

I vape ALLOT, and buy juice from tasty vapor, 2 1 oz bottles a month for 30-35$ depending on sales. so I went from 250$+ a month to 30$ a month.. way cheaper here :p

I'm not saving all that much, but that's just because I've chosen not to refill cartos for now. But even with the cost of buying enough fresh cartos to last for the month I'm still saving about half of what I would have spent smoking analogs.

Analogs- 2 packs/day at approximately $5 each=$300

PV--90 cartos/month @ 5 for $9.95=around $180

Getting off all the carcinogens and possibly lowering my cancer risk=priceless

I was just reading this thread and planned to leave it at that until I read your post about buying TV. I do also but I'll buy a heavier level of nic juice with 4oz of 0 nic and mix it to mood. For the most part, I'm to the point I vape 4-6 mg nic juice. Just a thought.

Now on topic, I was smoking at least 6 cartons a month which translates to about $300 a month here. I blew a couple hundred on my first two kits, probably another $300-400 on a supply of 510 hardware, then another $150 on two Chucks. That's $750 on hardware, maybe another $400 on a huge supply of liquid and $25 for a wine cooler to keep my supplies in for a total of $1175.

The kicker came in when I couldn't get off the handful of cigarettes I was still smoking. Enter Swedish snus for another $400, but exit those last half dozen cigarettes I couldn't stop smoking before the snus. That gets me to around $1575 in almost a year. Now I probably smoked 50 packs in the 6 months until I found snus
and I need to add $250 to the total- $1825. WOW

Except a little over 5 months into this I broke even for nearly the year. I feel great, a can of snus lasts me a week, I vape when I feel the urge (sometimes I go all day without even looking for my Chuck). At my present supplies, I am good for at least two to three years minimum.

Where I was headed before I found my first PV can't even be priced and I can't believe anyone would question their expenses when you factor in the benefits. I don't know if I'll live any longer now that I don't smoke. However, losing the cough and the wheezing (it took over 40 years for that to start) is priceless. :toast:

Let's see - at heaven gifts:

$33.50 510 starter kit
$148.75 - 25 - 2 years worth of atomizers at bulk rate (25 for bulk rate and going with the @1 atty/batt per month)
$225.00 - 25 - 2 years worth of batts at bulk
$657.00 - 73 bottles of 30ml ejuice (cheap Chinese eliquid (3ml a day for 2 years -heavy vaping - only 48 bottles at 2ml/day)
@$100.00 shipping for the ejuice over a few orders.

$1164.25 total. for 2 years of stuff - cheap juice.

add @$1168.00 for the difference between 73 bottles of expensive Chinese eliquid sold by US vendors @$25/bottle(again, only 48 bottles at 2ml/day rather than 3ml/day)
so:
$2332.25 total for 2 years of stuff - "top shelf" juice
For me - vs. $6 pack (by the carton) of Salems x 3 per day = $18 x 365 x 2 years

$13140.00 for 2 years
/3 for 1 pack a day folks
$4380.00 for 2 years
*2 for the 2 pack a day folks
$8760.00 for 2 years

That's right, I forgot - Sydney and San Jose (California) are "Sister cities"... explains why I spent almost the same amount! ;)

Seriously, once I found a hardware combination that fit my tastes, I spend about $30 a month in juice and maybe another $25 a month in hardware.

Compared to around $400 a month in analogs (about 2 packs a day), I've got no complaints!
