So, I purchased my first APV a couple of weeks ago, an eGo clone called the "Z-1" printed with "z-vape.com" on the carrying case. I went to my local smoke shop and, not knowing much about APV's, let them recommend one. After doing a little research I think this is actually a rebranded "Ciggo cloud" manufactured by Bauway. I was pretty happy with this setup for the first week or so, but I had two flavors of e-juice and I decided to buy a couple more, so I went back to the same place and got a second clearamizer, which they sold me for about $7.
This one had long wicks in it (I'm guessing it was a knock off of the CE4). It never worked right. I tried all kinds of things, but it frustratingly refused to produce the amount of vapor that the original tank did. I took it apart and fiddled with it until I broke it. The original tank still works great. It looks similar to the replacement tank except it has no visible wicks inside the tank.
I went to a different smoke shop and got a second kit (I decided I wanted to have two batteries so I could always have one charged) and the new kit (a White Rhino branded "Liquid e-cigarette") also came with a tank that had no visible wicks. I got another spare tank that had the visible wicks.
I decided to try the new tank that has no visible wicks, and it, too, has disappointing results. Very little vapor produced compared to my original tank on either of the batteries. Also, it tends to leak juice down into the battery compartment (I found a YouTube video that describes this problem and how to clean it out.)
I'm frustrated and can't tell if these tanks are just crap, or if I'm doing something wrong. I've tried different techniques -- holding the thing sideways, always keeping it upright, tilting it in different directions, trying it with not much juice in the tanks, trying it filled all the way up.
Is this just a matter of this particular CE4 type tank being crap? I decided to order a few "name brand" clearomizers from an online distributor to see how much better they are (I have a DV Mini Vivi Nova, a Kanger eVod, and two Kanger T3S's on the way based on some forum posts I read) but I'm curious to hear if others have had similar disappointing experiences with CE4's, and if there are any tips on making them work better.
Thanks in advance,
