I've had similar issues with my protank 2. Mostly because i didn't clean the tank for awhile. Especially if i had some dark juices like carmel or maple nut bread. They tend to gunk up the coils faster and if left un-treated (cleaned) the sticky residue will build up on the inside of your atty and each progressive fill will end with a thicker and thicker juice left behind.

But first definately make sure the coil isnt gunked-up or burnt.

I make my own eliquids. When I put them up they are a light tan and within a week it is dark brown. Part of it is a chemical reaction with the flavors but once you put it in a clearo or other type device they get a bit darker and your coils will gunk up a bit. A lot depends on the type wicks you use. When it gets to the point of sludge in the base I dump the whole mess and clean my tank then refill.

It was a new coil about 5 days ago and vaped with some dark liquid. I will clean the tank when I change the coil and see if it continues.
Is it a new or used coil? If it's a used coil, it might already be gunked up.

Also, if you vape heavily, you could be letting the wick get slightly dry - that will gunk up a coil quicker than letting the juice re-wick between draws.

I get this with certain juices. I believe it's simply carbon from the liquid burning and/or the liquid steeping from the heat. It's never affected flavor and I don't worry about it. I vape it down, clean the tank and purge as much old juice out of the coil and all is well.

Bit of an update here and more info. I'll share how I've been dealing with the issue so far and hope one of you might have a better way. It seems to happen with sweeter juices. I have a fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA juice it happens with, basically if I clean my tank completely, put a clean coil in and fill it, the juice stays it's same color. However, when it gets low and I refill it, it begins to discolor. I just got a new juice- vanilla carmel coffee that the same thing happens with. First tank is normal, if I refill it without cleaning it and changing the coil it changes darker. Also, this does seem to effect the vapes. I don't get as much of a hit (vapor or flavor) when this happens. Like I said, what seems to fix it is taking the tank apart, cleaning the whole thing and changing the coil. That's kind of a pain to do every time I empty a 2.5 ml, but I guess I'll do it if I have to. Would simply rinsing the coil off and letting it dry be sufficient cleaning do you think? I've been rinsing mine for like 5 minutes at a time, letting them soak for 2 hours, dry burning them, rinsing them again and letting them dry again. Seems a bit much to do with every tank. Also, the Kanger Aerotank V2, is it safe to get every part of that wet? I have not been rinsing the part the coil screws into (sorry I don't know the name), but rinse every other part. Sorry this is kind of rambling.
