It may or may not contain diacetyl, but surely is not 100%. Many (most?) makers have dropped it, but I've not bought pre-mix in a long time. And there are "buttery" flavors now that do NOT have diacetyls, so who knows about the particular flavor you have.

IMO the concern is way over-blown. If you work in the popcorn factory and breath the undiluted dust for years, yeah, you may have a problem. In the tiny amounts in juice, who knows.

For your peace of mind, maybe contact the maker?

I bought Jam Monster Grape ( Toast, Butter, and Grape Jam). I'm curious, too.

Did you watch the video I posted? It is less than 3 min and will set your mind at ease. I will add that the popcorn lung only affected 8 (EIGHT) people out of all the popcorn factories in the world using diacetyl and they were breathing in POWDERED diacetyl. Also diacetyl is only the suspected cause and was never proven.

Really if you want to worry about something in your ejuice, worry about potential nut allergies for any flavor that may contain real nut oil or extracts. Even if you don't personally have a nut allergy, does the person that happens to walk through your public vapor?

I only vape Wintergreen so I am safe on all counts.

I watched the video and it did put my mind at ease (If the source is trustworthy).

    Thanks

I think it is a majorly over rated risk. But some flavoring still contain it. If you are concerned about it and don't want it in your juice, ask the company if it contains any. If they won't tell you go with something else if you are concerned.

I smoked for 25 years and never gave a thought to diacetyl, despite consuming large amounts of it every hour of every day. I DIY and use flavorings that I know contain diacetyl but I choose not to worry about it. I’d change my opinion if vapers started dropping of popcorn lung but that hasn’t been the case so I’ll continue to enjoy my custards.

Not many flavorings used to make eliquid still contain diacetyl. For those that do...most manufacturers and online websites selling those flavorings...will say so in the description or ingredients list of the flavoring. There are quite a few flavorings though, that do contain just trace amounts of the diketones acetoin and/or AP (acetyl propionyl). That's usually also either stated in the ingredients list or the description of the flavoring, or is indicated by a specific symbol (usually an *). That's helpful info for those of us who DIY our own eliquids. Many times there's also a "diketone free" version of the same flavoring, that doesn't have them in it. So we can choose which to use for our own eliquids.

However, whether or not the shop where you get your eliquid will state whether or not the ones they sell contain any of the above...you'll have to ask to find out. Many times though they may not even know if they do, unless the eliquid was made by them.

Popcorn lung is about on the level of vapers vaping antifreeze. The type of illness those popcorn workers developed can also be caused by factors other than diacetyl, so drawing the conclusion that popcorn workers are proof positive about diacetyl is highly questionable at best.

After 30 years of smoking, I doubt my demise will occur from vaping some juices that may contain traces of diacetyl. That said, one has to follow their own comfort level about what they put in their body.

I know not a lot of company’s include it, but I was just curious because I love this juice so much lol. It’s called jam monster. It’s so good. I contacted them, and got nothing back. But from everyone’s response about diacetyl it seems like I have nothing to worry about. Was just worried because of the buttery taste it has to it.

It pays to be concerned, after all, we're all vapers who switched to reduce the harm inhaling burning plant fumes causes. But scare tactics are rampant as BT and the various States see their revenue decline.

As mentioned, YOUR comfort level is the important thing for your progress.

Did you contact the shop or the maker? (Or are they the same?)

Well, if I know a flavor has dactyl I won't vape it, but I don't drive myself nuts with every flavor. I DIY now so it's easier to have control over what I put in my vape, though. Best of luck in finding out, if you are concerned. I'm not even exactly concerned about it I just keep a somewhat wary eye out for it in flavorings.
