Can someone tell me what the shelf life of the typical e-liquid is? Does refrigeration help for longer storage?

I got one once that had an expiration date....And it said to use within 1 year of purchase. I do not know if refrigeration will help prolong the life of it or not, but thats all I can tell you based on a liquid I received. It was a mostly PG liquid if that helps any.
