it definitely looks like somethings people in the medical field will feel comfortable about giving to their patients which is a great angle to have in the market. not only that, but it was designed by a medical professional so it will have a trusted signature. just hope no-one copies it before you make a killing !

something else too, it might be possible to give something like this to prisoners. its funny, when cd's took over the market from cassette tapes, nobody thought there was any money in them any more and so when a californian businessman invested $5milion in the format, they thought he was crazy.

turns out he wasnt so nuts. prisoners are not allowed to have cd's as they can be very easily molded into a shiv. not so with cassette tapes which are normally permitted and so 60% of his customer base are are among america's 2.3 million prisoners. while music execs are getting head-aches, messing around with drm and cursing the latest format, he's out there living on easy street selling something you can only find in bargain bins at yard sales.

It's been asked before but I still wonder what makes this box different from an external battery pack.
I'm guessing not much. :p

Not Bad bro...you got that right.....actually "borrowed" the casing design from those old cassette tapes and re-mould it..but quality is better..hopefully more durable too...I have marked them and put in a serial code..so far 20 units have rolled out...Full field test is on..and time to gather data...and to find it's weakness... and it's strong points...:)
You know it's funny, the Chinese must have copied your "design" already.:D Just missing the eturbo stickers...

Hi rp3...Yo han did mention powerpack can't be patented...and I did seek my lawyers advice but you still can patent the design of the use of tweaked power supply to any given device..so what I did was asking my manufacturers to get the most powerful power pack design out there in the ready market and retweaked it for another use...the design you are talking about is the same with a traditional cassette except the mould has been redesign to fit in a battery instead...and I don't want my idea being used by my China counterparts so I "hired" them instead..that also for cost reduction and also less new plastic moulding..

I was actually thinking of using Pelican powerpack at first but it was recalled because of potential explosion/meltdown.... then I contacted my nearest manufacturer from Taiwan to do this for me...what you see is actually a repackaged USB powerpack with a lot of modifications done....not easy and that's why the absence of switch on it and and readapted for use with an ecig device....you can find lots of USB powerpack already in the market but none as good as this one...small and light weight and easily modified for secondary use....

We are still finalising on the deal with the manufacturer and we can't print e-turbo on the box till everything goes thru..that why we started field testing first and makes sure our device does not damaged any atomiser....hope you will except my explaination...I did all my homework on this one and I found many similar USB powerpacks outside....I think it can be easily modified to our use and all you need now is to re-tweaked the components to suits an e-cig device.....anyway, we are still testing and I bet it will easily outride your existing OE batteries....;)

Err, you might want to read the thread fully, jimldk's box involves a pulsed power source not a simple USB box

Hi pete..thanks for your support..it is a modified powerpack..the innards have been changed...rp3 is right in someway but it is now redesign for use in an ecig device...

If I need to re-do my design again anew, the investment cost is extremely high and it will push my E-turbo price beyond the reaches of most people..therefore I reuse an existing powerpack thats already in the market...that will surely bring the cost down and less headaches for everyone who will use it sooner or later...adaptors and connections have been redirected and tweaked for performance with an e-cig...no more 4 wires USB....all has been reworked and put to test and I hope my promised to all that the cost of this thing won't be "burdenful" will stay that way....;)

Is the battery user replaceable in this new model should it die?

No, tribal master unfortunately, my Chinese manufacturer has already design this earlier with their powerpacks and sealed it permanently in...sorry bro...it will be actually cheaper this way as it is using a default design that already existed in the market....so can't "renovated it " unless I pay them a new price...which is beyond my capabilities....It is like rebranding Ford as Mazda..that sort of thing...

The best of luck with this Jimldk - adapting existing products seems a very sound approach. To me, the product is attractive but even better thought out - solving battery and atomiser problems in one. Some won't like vaping-by-wire but this doesn't bother me at all.

I'll be putting off buying any other e-cig and wait till you get this one to market - hopefully soon :D. Do you have any estimate of when this might be and a ball-park price estimate?

Thanks for keeping us all updated with development - I'm sure I'm not the only one keeping a keen eye on this thread.

Thanks Soot,...I have no choice actually because I knew my China counterpart will copy my design , so I won't fight them, I join them but with my own modifications...a little bit of tweaking is needed though..when I first use their powerpack, it burnt two of my old atomiser so I did some investigations and contacted my maufacturers...so we came to this solution..use it while we can cause the price will be very affordable to all if done right....save me the anguished of my design being stolen but hopefully preserved my idea....

I am hoping the price will be in the range of USD 60 to 80(without shipping) , the full pack....with a chosen atomiser connector...

some atomiser connectors are hard to replicate so I will have to salvage new connectors from the originals supplier...so it is still being field tested at the moment...there is still some small glitches to sort out but hopefully soon....already my orders here in Malaysia is very high and the demands are getting higher...I will let you all know...as soon as my deal with the manufacturers concludes...lots of work to be done and already thinking of ways to use the Ipod's powerpacks.....just in case...

Hope the testing progresses well and glitches are soon resolved. The price seems very reasonable.

I hope so......;)...it will also helps to fund for my existing clinical trials(six long years...hmmmm:oops:) and I have already pledges some of the income from this project for selected orphanages and low income groups in my country...I have lots of commimments for them...I am following my grandfathers footstep(he is a very generous charitable man)....and I was once very poor until my grandpa pull us thru with his rubber plantations...I know how it feels to be poor...:(

Sorry doc, you know i worship you.......but i think the pricing is too high...

Unless of course, we get special discounts.....Lol...

Hi Fedor....:Dthat was just an estimates till I get the full quotation from the China Taiwan Manufacturers..(The problems was using their Power Brick print on the Casing and I want it changed to E-Turbo X1...still discussing it with them..I have just send a representative over to China Taiwan to discuss things over and haggling for a lower pricing and manufacturing plant over here in Malaysia so I can at least provide jobs for my locals here..times are bad and it doesn't look any better in near future so I have a role to play here.. ) and I hope it is lower too....but to get that many varied connectors are not an easy thing..most Chinese manufacturers won't just hand over to me that easily...I still will have to pay a price for their goods...so I hope you understand the situation....I understood there's an urgent need to lower the price so everyone can use it as cost effective as possible..I will try that......;)

If only there weren't more people like you and your grandfather Jim - the world would certainly be a better place!!

I'm so pleased that things are progressing to plan for you and wishing you the best of luck! Your work is - as always - invaluable to this community!

Thanks SD....I appreciated that....:)
