Question for my fellow EA mod enthusiasts.. does the top of your 510 connection feel like the threads are a bit looser than the bottom?

What I mean by this: When I start to screw my AGA onto my EA, or when I'm taking it off and it's almost apart, the connection is really loose, lots of play between the 510 connection on the AGA and the 510 connection on the EA. Once I get it about halfway on the 510 connection tightens up and every atty I have sits nice and tight and flush on the EA once I get them screwed down all the way.

I'm not sure I know exactly what your talking about. I do know that the EA is designed to be "loose" until it's screwed down "snug" When I unscrew just the atty, yea, I guess it's a little loose in the 510 connection until it's screwed down and the mod is "snug"

Well, for not knowing exactly what I meant you hit that nail square on the head, your description is exactly what I've been noticing lately. I wasn't sure if I was just now noticing it or if I'd been slowly wearing it out. Sounds like mine is as designed Thanks Donnah.

My threads are looser at the top than the bottom. My guess is it could be to prevent cross threading. However once screwed down it's nice and snug.

Yea... if you watch pbusardo's review, he says that the looseness is by design and serves a specific purpose. This video is the main reason I decided to get one.

Here is my EA with the nimbus. My only gripe is the trigger button getting hot. Does any get this?

I have the exact config with you, except that I run sub 0.5 ohm with my dual coil nimbus. And the last few days Ive set itu to 0.2 ohm dual coil.

It will get hot. That is the limitation of the spring inside the button. What you can do is make sure its clean. Some grease also help. My experience with the EA is that, the button needs frequent cleaning if you run run SLR.

Where did you get it from? I love my EA.. I love the simplicity of it. I have a Roller and it's actually more comfortable to hold and use.. the button is soo smooth, but that smooth button comes with a price.. It's full of tiny parts that's not fun to take apart to clean. Congrats on your new toy

This is exactly why I don't have a roller anymore and still have an EA. Of course, that could change at any time but I like simple things. It's one of the things I like about the astro I just go...pretty damn simple.

My button gets hot every now and again (I'm a 1.4 to 1.8 ohm kinda guy), but it's usually from the oxidation on the button and ground post. I believe the oxidation adds resistance, and we all know something with resistance heats up.

I actually polish my contacts regularly, the top part of the airflow control less often. I just take a folded paper towel, dab some Brasso on it and roll/rub the brass piece around for a bit. Then take another paper towel and rub it dry. The color goes from a nice steampunk amber to a shiny light-gold. And truth be told, you can tell the difference in the vape. I have taken the button apart for a full polishing/cleaning, and just rub the threads with a soft toothbrush to get the extra Brasso out. Not sure if it's a good idea to polish threads, though... haha

I just wish brass didn't oxidize so damn fast... my Galileo works as well today as the day I got it, without any polishing/abrasive on the contacts. My EA Mod still works the best, but I gotta work for that best.

Perhaps I'll invest in some... Everbrite, is it called? I'm just not sure if that would act as a barrier for the electricity, or actually add to resistance.

Love my EA Mod #300 just wish the damn AC9 would sit flush.
I'm not sure if there is a fix for this and I'm too scared to twist any further.

Take the top cap off of the EA and put the ac9 on it... screw it down flush.. now put the second tube on and so forth. Watch pbusardo's video on how to assemble it.. it's a page or two back.

Perhaps I'll invest in some... Everbrite, is it called? I'm just not sure if that would act as a barrier for the electricity, or actually add to resistance.

I use DeoxIT for the contacts. It is designed to clean and protect electrical contacts. I use it on all my mods in place of the Noalox often suggested - these aren't aluminum after all.

ETA: It also works as a great lube for the threads.

The ground post is glued into the base (I wish they didn't do that). After my first polish just using a Q-tip, it became loose and with a few wiggles, it popped right out. I scraped the glue off the post and the base, popped it back in and now it's a breeze to clean. And if I ever feel like I'm getting a bad connection, I just rotate it a bit and it's like a brand new post!

As for cleaning, I've just been polishing it with Brasso, but I'm gonna have to give DeoxIT a try, as per Bemini. Any idea where to buy it locally?

That's the weird thing, that's what I did. It won't go all the way down with just the top cap with the brass pin completely removed.
