My replacement top cap came in today (stock cap replacement from Vaporescence). Much to my surprise it DID include a new positive post!! :D :D

Eric, how are you liking the airflow controller? I wish they would make one with a ss finish, nt that I really need airflow control, but it would look pretty cool.

So I picked up a new polish a week and a half or so ago... Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish. Worked wonders on my EA; I've never seen the button shine like that! Now the color (particularly on my airflow control cap) has turned a very nice, solid "dirty gold", I'll call it. However, the color is a bit different than after a week with Brasso... the color after Mother's is much more solid, but darker, even on the contacts (that I try not to touch much at all).

What's everyone's opinion on this? Polish is, for the most part, polish. Does this mean Mother's did the job better? I originally got it because there are rumors that ammonia (like in Brasso) can weaken brass by dissolving the copper in it (now, I actually am a chemist, so I'll say ammonia can dissolve copper, but I'm not sure about copper in alloys).

I'm only asking because tonight my EA almost stopped working. The button would get hot, and I got nearly no power to my atomizer (it wasn't a short... I tested the same atomizer on my Galileo and it worked perfect). I wiped down all the contacts, and it seems to have fixed the problem, I'm just paranoid about maintaining this thing, and I really don't want to polish more than I have to (after all, a few microns can add up over time :p)

Any pictures to share Richard? I'd like to see how it turned out.

Sadly I'm a little behind the times with technology... I don't own a decent camera or a smart phone.

I think my concern was that the poor connection/hot button was a result from the brass beginning to oxidize again. It's hittin' like a hammer now, so I'm not sure what was wrong. The only variable I can think of is the bottom post, as it's no longer glued in on mine (I popped it out for a full cleaning). But it fits in there pretty snug, and with everything tightened down, I can't imagine how it would perform any different.

In the end, I'm clueless! It's not the first time my EA has acted up like this. Maybe the contacts just needed a good wipe down.

I'm having issues with my button getting hot... it's really starting to piss me off. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I like to run sub-ohm coils, but I can take the same atty that's giving a hot button on my EA and place it on another mod and not get the hot button.

This mod is on my list of things I'll never sell..

Never say never.. right?

Good ole 249 is up in the classy's if anyone is interested. I have it listed with a couple atty's (a new in box AGA-T2 and a gently used Term C). If anyone is interested in the mod but not the extra stuff with it pm me, I am open to offers.

I just used a flat head screw driver to remove that tiny little c-clip (e-clip?). You might have to push the button slightly while doing this. Be very careful not to lose that clip! I seem to recall that folks posted the replacement size earlier in this thread, though. Shoot, I just got back from Ace Hardware and didn't even think to look for spares.

Putting the clip back on is just a little easier - fingers only - again pushing the button in slightly at the same time.
