So I picked up a new polish a week and a half or so ago... Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish. Worked wonders on my EA; I've never seen the button shine like that! Now the color (particularly on my airflow control cap) has turned a very nice, solid "dirty gold", I'll call it. However, the color is a bit different than after a week with Brasso... the color after Mother's is much more solid, but darker, even on the contacts (that I try not to touch much at all).
What's everyone's opinion on this? Polish is, for the most part, polish. Does this mean Mother's did the job better? I originally got it because there are rumors that ammonia (like in Brasso) can weaken brass by dissolving the copper in it (now, I actually
am a chemist, so I'll say ammonia can dissolve copper, but I'm not sure about copper in alloys).
I'm only asking because tonight my EA almost stopped working. The button would get hot, and I got nearly no power to my atomizer (it wasn't a short... I tested the same atomizer on my Galileo and it worked perfect). I wiped down all the contacts, and it seems to have fixed the problem, I'm just paranoid about maintaining this thing, and I really don't want to polish more than I have to (after all, a few microns can add up over time

)
