I can't speak for others here but I don't think anyone's "up in arms" or pissy, snippy, or anything else people have eluded to. As Taylor points out it leaching into your skin might not harm you and all you might get is sick to the stomach or light headed. The real concern is an e-cig unprotected or unmonitored. Some juice on your skin might not be a big deal to you, but pick up your 4 year old and have him mess your your hair/ears and it just might become a really serious issue very quickly.

E-cigs do leak, it's a weakness in their manufacture. Grab up a case and then you don't have to tuck it behind your ear, put it on the shelf, or any other place it might get forgotten or go unnoticed. The scarey scenario is when some leaked juice gets overlooked and kills a houshold pet or makes your kids sick...that's when it goes from being a mild concern to "real". Better safe than sorry IMO.

So like my original reply states: "Go buy a case. Why even risk it? ...go on we'll wait."

As for everyone ascribing a "tone of voice" to my posts... that's all perception. I'd prefer that they didn't manifest negativity in my comments, but it's the internet what can you do?

Look at funny lolcat pictures?

Perfect segue:

I suggest buying a box of cigarette filter tube and take one empty tube , fill it with whatever (shreded paper) and stick that behind your ear if you feel the need to have a "smoke" there... but keep your more $$$ e-cig in a safe place...

as to worrying about nic on skin... they say it's bad, but I'm kind of messy and spill the stuff on myself all the time (no problems) and my Lady is worse... the second I said, "hey! that's toxic! don't put it in your mouth!!!" well... she did... now she makes a point of licking her fingers if she spills stuff... smart? no... but she is a sassy lady lol (and no ill effects yet)

so...
if ya like be realistic (like I did) and read up on the actual scientific stuff...
you'll be less afraid then if you don't ;)

cheers

Odd, but I carry my 510 on my ear like a cig.

I've noticed that sometimes the cart leaks a bit, assumably because of the angle it rests on my ear.

Should I be concerned with that bit of juice that might be marinating on my skin behind my ear?

Not really if anyone asks just say its a nicotine patch
(It's the way I tell 'em).

I would not have though some leaking onto the skin would be a problem as it would only be a small amount and I doubt the skin could absorb it very fast.

cincy, oh
Who cares if you put a PV behind your ear? (besides the few with loud voices in this thread) That's not really the issue here.

I think you need to figure out why your 510 is leaking... Behind your ear, in your pocket, whatever, I'm sure if it's leaking on your ear then when you're hitting it you're getting juice in your mouth too.

I have no problem throwing my 510 behind my ear when I'm cooking or or doing something else where I want a quick drag now and again but moving around a lot. I'm definitely not going to put it back in a case and in my pocket each time.

And for the haters... Think about it as advertising. If you have your PV in a case in your pocket then no one sees it. If you have it behind your ear, then you may get someone asking what it is and convert them to vaping. There are positive sides past your first negative thoughts.

I keep my 510 behind my ear while playing Rock Band (carpeted floors!), and even had a little leakage once. Zero issues. Made my skin warm, so I knew almost immediately. That said, I get nic juice on my fingers, sometimes in decently large quantities when I'm filling carts or mixing juices. No issues there either.

I'm not saying take a bath in the stuff, but I doubt a little exposure from time to time is going to be terribly harmful. Unless perhaps you're predisposed to a reaction from contact with nicotine, in which case...this ain't for you.

... or you could make a neck holder. Safer, as easy to get to, and it won't fall on the floor.

Here's one I made awhile back:

and if you're hip on the advertising perspective then it'll remain out in the open performing that function as well.

@SnuggleBunny - I'd love a link to the toxicology report that put your fears to rest. It would be a great addition to the information we provide the forum goers here.

I really like the lanyard idea. Bit bulky for my taste, and I'm typically be-necklaced to boot, but a great idea. I've only tucked it behind the ear while playing Rock Band, as you usually only have a few quick moments between songs. Otherwise, I just use a re-purposed pen or cigarette case.

I would really like to design a belt looped holster, similar to what you see for a multi-tool or zippo. Actually, the pouch you have attached to the lanyard would work if you could add something to loop a bellt through it. Alas, I'm a thinker, not a doer. :D

Widows Bead Work makes and sells an e-cig necklace.

This is the ultimate. I don’t even have to take it out of the holder to vape. More than enough air passes through the spaces between the beads. And it does seem to hold up to normal wear and tear.. I’ve been wearing mine daily for 3 months now (even slept with it on a couple of times).

Since I know I’m not the only one suffering from “old timers”, I’m offering them for sale. They are all handmade, all different – as much as I try I don’t seem to be able to make 2 of them exactly the same – so each is unique. If you would like one of the models in a specific color, EMail me, and I'll let you know.

The bead worked one is too "stylish" for my tastes. The one I rigged up has a cut foam insert to catch any leaks while it stays firmly in place. As for the belt idea Rook, it's has that too. You'll notice the lanyard clips off really easy. It does this because on the back is a belt clip to "holster" your ciggy if you need to.

I recently recut some foam to see what all I could get to sit securely in the holster and found that I could fit my PV, an extra bat with atty, a skinny 3 ml bottle of juice, and my flashdrive. It's a bit jumbled so I never used it but there is potential.

As for its bulk you can alleviate that depending on your situation and preference. tighten the lanyard up to make it hang at any length, stuff it in a pocket or your shirt if it gets in the way (like a normal necklace), take it to the belt if you need to go incognito or for just ease of use.

sorry, no direct links, but besides Wikipedia and the odd google, most things I've read have started from links on this site, OR by following the links on those sites...

I've read every pdf, report, news clipping I could find (and still do)
from what I've read, though I would never say e-cigs are "100% safe", but based on what is in a cigerette (Wikipedia has a list) and what is in e-liquid (Wikipedia again) and the fact that it's vaper and nothing is burning (anything burning is carceogenic) I feel pretty safe using an e-cig. any tests or reports INCLUDING the FDA "study" that I've read supports this.
it's the spin people put on it that is the problem.

cheers
