Ear infections/ringing from vapor???

Hello, I started vaping a couple weeks ago. I got the ego-T vape from a vape shop along with a bottle of vazilla juice and a bottle of cool port juice both 24mg of nicotine. I went through the vazilla with no problems. When that ran out I started on the cool port. The next day I wake up with ringing in my ear. I kept on vaping for 2 more days and the ringing didn't go away. Did some research and figured it might be the vaping that was causing it. So I stop vaping for a few days and my hearing goes back to normal. I go back to the vape shop and get a bottle of vazilla again thinking maybe it was the cool port was causing the ear problem. 2 days of vaping and I got ringing/hearing loss in my ear again... Just wondering if anyone else as experienced anything like this?

Sometimes when I use an iclear16 clearomizer I get a little pain in my ear when I take a deep pull. I always figured it was just an airflow issue with that style of clearo. I make a small gap in my mouth when I'm puffing on it, that seems to help me.
Also, I do sometimes feel like, when I take a big pull off of my RV Fireball, that I can feel it back in my ears. Your sinuses are connected to your ears and all that, so you may wanna retrain yourself on the way you inhale. Or maybe it's just winter weather getting you down.

Constant coughing, nose blowing, changes in pressure etc., can cause ear infections, clogged/infected eustachian tubes for me. I'm not prone to ringing, so that rarely happens but it's probably all connected. Maybe you are inhaling the vape in a way that causes your eustachian tubes to act up? Also, dehydration can create ear issues, which is why my doc always recommends drinking lots of water on a plane. Vaping can dehydrate. Other than that, no clue.

^^^This is what happened to me when I first started. I just had to not inhale like it was a cigarette, it's not squishy like a filter tip so a little retraining yourself might be all you need. There are some ear bugs going around this winter too though. I hope you get it sorted!

I've never heard of this happening before, but my first thought is maybe you're getting to much nicotine?

24mg is quite a bit. How much did you smoke? If you were around a pack a day, go down to 18mg.
I was thinking that also so I got 18 mg this time...I used to smoke 1 to 1 1/2 packs of newport reg a day.

hi

here is a thread on a similar subject you might want to read

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/health-safety-e-smoking/498588-if-you-have-tinnitus-ringing-your-ears-propylene-glycol-ototoxic.html

you can't post there yet, but you can read it. hope your problem resolves itself

ps, wow so many responses at once lol

Thanks for the link. There are a lot of interesting comments in there...
I'm going to stop vaping again see if the ringing stops/lessens then switch to 100% vg juice and drop the nicotine level way down(I'm thinking 12mg). I'm also going to find a cart that has a "loose draw". Hopefully that will end my problems. It's dissapointing that everything was going well for a few weeks then this happens.

I'll also make a doctors appointment and get my ears checked ;).

hi there, how is it going?

i have a similar problem. i have been vaping for a year, i have used the greensmoke for the first 8 months and then i got my first ego c twist. i now use it with an iclear16

i had clogged ears on and off for the last few months but now it has been very bad for the last two weeks. i went to the gp, she gave me drops the first time to clean the wax, as she thought that was the problem but today she saw an infection and gave me antibiotics.
i'm really upset about it as i don't know what's causing it and the doctor doesn't know anything about e cigs, about pg,vg and about the way i should inhale the vapour. don't really know what to do........
i have been vaping only vg for the last week but i didnt see any improvements.

i'd really like to know how is going for you, maybe we could share the experiences and see if we can figure this out

good luck

I have heard of folks having allergies to PG. I believe your going to Va** Vi** in millersville, try some of the ruthless juices they stock. i know a few of those are 90%/10%-VG/PG. Also, If your taking mouth>lung drags, i could see how this motion could open the passages in your throat that connect to your ears allowing vapor to enter your "auditory tube" and cause an allergic reaction. I am absolutely no doctor or ENT specialist. Just a thought :toast: Good Luck and welcome!

If I don't put alcohol in my ears after a shower or whenever they get wet I start having pain. and my ears seem to hold wax, I'll start hearing little "noises" and they feel clogged so I have to go have the dr get the excess wax out of my ears. I've had this "problem" for years before vaping.
TMI ? :)

Hi im a little frustrated by having to post as a new member and be restricted to this section (and not the section I would like to directly respond to)....a complete "........ Seriously?" moment..

Anyways...

I have experienced hearing loss and tinnitus since I started vaping. I quit smoking 6 weeks ago and started using eciggs exclusively. I smoked for 25 years and was a pack and a half a day smoker.

Week 1 - I started vaping 80VG & 20PG Supermint flavor with 6 mg of nicotine and I was ok,

Week 2 - I came down with the most extreme case of stomach flu with unbelievable and constant ........ that lasted for 7 days. Honestly I never felt so sick in my life. I was convinced it was a normal stomach virus (noro-virus or food poisoning) and continued to vape.

Week 3 I was ok,..

Week 4, bam stomach flu virus again !!! With the exact same symptoms as week 2 that lasted again for 7 days.

Week 5 I was ok...

Week 6 -I had the Stomach flu again with the same exact symptoms that lasted 7 days.

During this time (around the 3rd day of week 6) I realized what was making me sick was one of the ingredients in the E-Juice I was using. I had read some vaping war stories on line and had found a number of folks who had experienced the same stomach flu symptoms as I had for weeks at a time and they had it consistently 3 or 4 times over a 6 week period. So I switched to a 50PG 50VG mix with a non sweetened tobacco based flavor at 6 mg of nicotine thinking it could be the flavoring, or perhaps the high amount of VG I was using.

On the last few days of being sick during the 6th week (and using the "new" E-Juice mix) I started hearing a constant buzzing in my left ear that wouldnt go away...then the hearing loss started. It was a significant amount of hearing loss that seemed to be primarily in the low frequencies and some mid frequencies. I went to an ENT a day ago and he examined my ear and found no wax buildup and said behind my eardrum looked normal. He also did some hearing tests with tuning forks and came to the conclusion that I have an inner ear problem and quickly prescribed an oral steroid. From what he explained, my problem could continue and be permanent...or not. He said that there's about a 50 percent chance of it being permanent.

SO now I wait to see if my hearing may or may not return....thrilling in a "verge of suicide" kind of way. Oh and the oral steroids are causing insomnia so im hyper aware of this wonderful experience.

TO deal with this....I have gone back to smoking real ciggs because I wanted to put things back as they were until I see if my hearing returns. And because non of this would be happening if I never started vaping.

Im pretty sure the cause of this is due to the electronic ciggs.

My million dollar question is - did being so consistently sick from the E-Jiuce cause the onset of tinnitus ? Or is it the E-Juice itself that caused it.

As I said earlier, I switched to a stronger PG E-Juice mix just prior to my tinnitus happening. And there are some folks on other forums who have gotten tinnitus since vaping and believe its come from PG based E-Juice.

Im just ranting and looking for anything positive or anyone who has had a similar vaping experience.
