Never been through an erath quake. Didn't even know they had earth quakes in NY until today. If they did have them when I was growing up I must of missed it some how. But I have been through more then my share of Huricanes (that is why I left Florida).

Stay safe and make sure you watch out for yourself before your Buzz's!

I have been through 4 earthquakes some BIG ones ,
Northridge 1994 -Mag. 6.7 ,
San Fernando valley 1971 -Mag 6.6 ,
Central Cal. 2004 -6.0 ,
and another one I forgot LOL ! , it is NOT the end of the world Kellie !! you are going to be fine girl .

Think I am more worried about the Hurricane. Hell I live upstate NY I am not suppose to have earthquakes and hurricanes. I worry about my Lox being home while I'm at work. Everything eles can be replaced, I watch way to many end of the world movies lol

Yup, hurricanes really do suck! I remember getting a few of them in NY when I was a kid, but they were nothing compared to the ones we got in So Florida. That is really tough, I'd ve tempted to call in sick before I left my Porthos home with a huriicane on the way. Wish there was something I could do to help.

Just keep an eye on the forecast. You will know if you need to find a place for Lox but it may be a good idea to line someone up now if you are able to. The water temperature is still very warm and it is possible that it could still be at hurricane strength when it gets to you. Don't worry just be as prepared as you can be :)

We had a brief storm the other day that was hurricane-like. I haven't seen winds like that in ages. I thought for sure a tornado was touching down near by. It only lasted an hour or so but knocked quite a few trees down around town. It took my gf an hour to get home (and we live in a small town) with all the detours from downed trees. Some of the trees that were downed by lightning were on fire blocking the whole road. Good thing we have a trail rated Jeep Liberty. lol

Not making light of anyone in the path of the hurricane, but don't worry Kellie, CAT 1 storm = hurricane party down here. I'm glad Irene is missing me, it would have been coming in at a CAT 3 (no fun at all). My first hurricane was Andrew - I remember it all too well 19 years ago this week, I was 9 mos pregnant with my daughter she was born 3 days after, I live in West Palm Beach and it dropped to the south right before landfall and spared us. I'm a nurse so it's mandatory we are at the facility during the storm and in the past I've been stuck there for a few days after, so I understand your anxiety about your dog (but those were CAT 3). I know down here they allow us to bring pets (w/ crates/cages) to work if we have to report for the storm, maybe your job will do the same?

I remember the huricane parties! And I remember Andrew. We were in Boynton at the time and it was scary when it was coming in! I think the only tree that fell in all of Palm Beach county fell on my husbands car (but he was not husband back then) I had several friends in homestead and what happened there... well it was unforgetable. I also had family in Miami who evacuted to homestead of all places.

My most interesting huricane experience was in 2004. We returned to florida to take a family cruise. I forget the names of the huricanes that hit that year but there were several. We flew into orlando just after one hit, but that did not stop our cruise. Well the next huricane hit and turned our 7 day cruise into a 12 day cruise (free food and entertainment for 5 more days) as we could not come back into port. The only bad part was they turned the engines off to save gas and itis like being on a sky skaper going back and forth and some of the passengers were'nt as happy as we were to be stuck out there. Port Canaveral was to dredged up to dock there so we had to come back to Miami. It was all cool though because my husband was able to clean up around my grandmothers house an put all her screens back up! But no power and water in South Florida means no AC!

I hope I did not worry Kellie to much, I have no doubt her and her dog will be fine, I can't just relate... I wouldn't want to leave my baby home when a huricane was coming!
